In this eerie and atmospheric novel, New York Times bestselling and award-winning author Neal Shusterman explores questions of life, death, and what might lie in between.

Nick and Allie don’t survive the car accident—and their souls don’t exactly get where they’re supposed to go. Instead, they’re caught halfway between life and death, in a sort of limbo known as Everlost: a shadow of the living world, filled with all the things and places that no longer exist. It’s a magical, yet dangerous, place where bands of lost kids run wild and anyone who stands in the same place too long sinks to the center of the Earth.

When they find Mary, the self-proclaimed queen of lost souls, Nick feels like he’s found a home, but Allie isn’t satisfied spending eternity between worlds. Against all warnings, Allie begins learning the “Criminal Art” of haunting, and ventures into dangerous territory, where a monster called the McGill threatens all the souls of Everlost.

A great, fun, entertaining, and thought-provoking story! I didn’t know what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised. The story moves along so quickly that you feel like it’s a short story, not a full novel. It made me smile several times on how witty some lines are and how likeable the characters are - even the villains. Maybe not the main villain, but that’s a personal choice you’ll have to make for yourself after listening through the end.
The narrators’ voices are pleasant and also likeable. All around, it leaves you with a nice feeling inside, wandering between the lines of the story and wondering how it would be like to be in Everlost - but let’s not rush our time on this world. Happy reading!!

Time Flew By - just like in Everlost

Enjoyed the story. The children’s afterlife had room for a lot more questions to be answered.

Feels like a spin on the Wizard of Oz

This book almost scratched that itch. Maybe it's that it was predictable. I knew the big twist from early on. But still, it was exciting enough to keep my attention. Worth the read. However, the narrator didnt have much range with his charachters. Many sounded too "Beetle Bailey" goofy. (for those of you old enough to recognize the reference).

Good story, but predictable

The way this author grasps you from beginning to end is almost a trap as you just have to keep going and going the story, plot twists, and end is AMAZING!

The creativity!
