Publisher's Summary

There's a murderer on the loose - but that doesn't stop the girls of St. Etheldreda's from attempting to hide the death of their headmistress in this rollicking farce.

The students of St. Etheldreda's School for Girls face a bothersome dilemma. Their irascible headmistress, Mrs. Plackett, and her surly brother, Mr. Godding, have been most inconveniently poisoned at Sunday dinner. Now the school will almost certainly be closed and the girls sent home - unless these seven very proper young ladies can hide the murders and convince their neighbors that nothing is wrong.

Julie Berry's The Scandalous Sisterhood of Prickwillow Place is a smart, hilarious Victorian romp, full of outrageous plot twists, mistaken identities, and mysterious happenings.

    "Unexpectedly delightful"

This book was so fun and unexpected. The writing was sweet and delightful. It's not sophisticated writing but it isn't any less enjoyable for that.

    "Irritating"

I wanted to like this book but I just don't. I usually love YA fiction. The syrupy silliness and the girl's stupid names bug me the most. I'm on chapter 6 and I just can't finish it. I can't believe all of the great reviews!

    "Great read, clever, amusing story"

This is a wonderful Victorian romp, complete with delightful characters, clever plot twists and charming language, well read by the equally wonderful Jayne Entwistle.

I just loved this book, super easy to listen to and a cute story of sisterhood and intrigue and murder. Wish this was a series. Sad its over.

    "Good Fun!"

I downloaded this book to listen to with my daughter on a road trip. We both loved it! Jane Entwhistle is one of my favorite readers, which makes the book so much more enjoyable.

    It's a cute story, well
    worth the listen.

    "Decent story...drags a bit"

The concept sounded quite interesting, but the story tended to drag a bit. Aside from the slow-moving story, I found the "nicknames" for the characters so annoying that I nearly returned the book without finishing it. If you can stick through "Smooth Kitty" and "Dull Elinor" "Pocked Louise" and so forth, it's a fun enough fluffy story.

    "Hugely entertaining"
Where does The Scandalous Sisterhood of Prickwillow Place rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is the most humorous book I have ever listened to. I would strongly recommend listening as the preferred way to experience this book, Entwistle and Berry make a great combination!

    "Delightful"

A charming, oddly funny, light mystery. I especially appreciate reading a story placed in the Victorian period that isn't so heavy and portrays the depth and wit of young women.

Would you try another book written by Julie Berry or narrated by Jayne Entwistle?

No I bought this book based on the award winning narration of Jayne Entwhistle on the Flavia de Luce books (not available on audible I got them from iTunes).<br/>This reading is not as good, but the real problem is that the girls are constantly referred to by their descriptive such as Pocked Jane and Smooth sally etc. It gets very tiring.

Would you ever listen to anything by Julie Berry again?

    Nope

What three words best describe Jayne Entwistle’s voice?

    She sounds bored

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Didn't get far enough in to know.

    Any additional comments?

Only that the same style of writing seems to have annoyed severel people in the written book reviews also.
