This is the reality for sons and daughters of fallen angels.

She's aware of a struggle within herself, an inexplicable pull toward danger, but Anna, the ultimate good girl, has always had the advantage of her angel side to balance the darkness within. It isn't until she turns 16 and meets the alluring Kaidan Rowe that she discovers her terrifying heritage and her willpower is put to the test. He's the boy your daddy warned you about. Eh...

Alright so this might be a bit schizophrenic... Sweet Evil is one of those books that starts out pretty strong and just when you think its going to elevate it takes a serious dive. I think this happens because the author wants to leave us hanging for her second installment (which I really HATE btw.)

This is a unique take on the Angel stories as its pretty close to what the Bible teaches. The most interesting bit being that God is actually involved. How many Angel books have you read where the "Angels" don't even believe in God? The answer is a lot. Unique for the win.

I really liked our bad boy, and I mostly liked our "good girl" heroine. Although, I definitely liked her better when she was misbehaving. By the end of the book I kind of wanted to push her off look-out peek. Though I can't be sure if that is the character or the narrator.

All and all this book was more then a wee bit annoying in its lack of progress. There is barely any action and freaking nothing gets resolved. NOTHING....

So if you don't mind some pretty gory imagery and LOTS unresolved teen angst then give this one a go. It really is unique in its genre.

Great YA twist on Angels (Nephilim)

I definitely enjoyed this story. Definitely a different take on angels and demons. A very enjoyable YA.

16 year old Anna Whitt is a good girl who doesn't know much about her parentage other than she was adopted. So grateful for her adoptive mother Patty, that Anna always did what she was supposed to do. She made good grades, didn't drink or do drugs and always strived to be honest. Anna was "special" or "weird as others called her but she tried her best to fit in. Anna could tell people's moods because she saw their aura. Also, Anna remembered being born and all the words spoken from her mother's womb. She knew she was something more than human, but she didn't know what.

One day, she went to hear a local band with her best friend Jay, and there for the first time she met someone, drummer Kaidan Rowe, who didn't have a visible aura. Anna had finally met someone like her. she felt inexplicably drawn to the Kaiden and she knew he had answers to help her unlock the truths about herself.

Kaiden opened her eyes to world of Nephilims. Kaiden showed her how to unlock her five senses which were heightened due to her heritage as a daughter of a fallen angel (demon) and an angel.
Anna learns that the earth was divided under the rule of 12 Dukes of Hell. Each Duke specialized in a specific sin and worked to tempt the citizens in their area to indulge in that particular sin. Anna's father, Belial, was the Duke of Substance Abuse--both Drugs and Alcohol. Thus, his daughter Anna was required to influence people to use and abuse substances.
Likewise, Kaiden's father as the Duke of Lust, and Kaiden was required to work in his father's region promoting lust.

But something happens between Anna and Kaiden, and it causes them to fight their particular nature. But it is hard, very hard to go against your nature!

I listen to this book in one sitting. Engaging, but such angst and Kaiden and Anna clearly wanted each other. Love is a good emotion, so I can see why it is forbidden to them. Great world building. I can't wait for the next book.

I am a sucker for Bad Boys!

I really enjoyed this book including the narrator! As I said, I am all over bad boy books and this one... Kaiden, just couldn't get any badder! The son of a fallen angel, drummer of a band on top of speaking with an English Accent? I was done for!
Also, Anna's sweet girl personality didn't come off as self-righteous or snobby, but there were a few times where I felt she did get a little "preachy". Other than that I thought the characters, 1st and 2nd drew me in quick. I would have loved to see more Kopano.. maybe the sequel will have him? I hope so!

I don't think I would classify this as a teen book. With all the sex, drugs and some language, I wouldn't want my teens reading it until they were at least 17.

The Sweetest Evil I have Ever Heard!

What did you love best about Sweet Evil?

I have to say that I loved being read to by Erin Mallon. She has this sultry voice that had me gripped right to the story like I was there. The way she changed characters effortlessly is a thing no one person can ,master.

I will listen to Sweet Evil over and over again for years to come!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Kaidan is my favorite character because he is the son of Lust. He has so many facets and layers to himself that when he meets Anna she unravels them all and he finds it hard to breathe.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene in the book is the party. That party scene was crazy where Anna and the gang had to work and Anna had to prove to everyone she could be the bad girl and do her fathers bidding.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes the scene in the alley where Kaidan kisses Anna for all she is worth.

Any additional comments?

Erin did a great job and I look forward to listening to more books from her!

Book boyfriend... Kaiden Rowe

Holy shit! I'm in love with a book boyfriend, Kaiden Rowe. What a fantastic story. The narrator was terrific. She was able to pull off all the various characters voices beautifully. It is about Nephs, demons, and angel. Temptation, sexy temptation, misunderstanding, true love and forgiveness and so much more. The author did a bang up job with this book. Moving on to book 2.
