Publisher's Summary

Seventeen year old assassin-in-training, Aveline, is ready to die rather than submit to her fate working in a brothel to repay her late father's debts. On the night she tries to end her life, a stranger stops her and offers a proposition: a clean slate, in exchange for her agreement to become the guardian of a young woman she has never met. Leery of the assignment and the man behind it, Aveline has no other option but to accept the deal.

Aveline's suspicion that something is off about the arrangement magnifies when she meets her new ward, Tiana Hanover, the daughter of the most powerful man in Lost Vegas. Expecting a pampered princess with an attitude, Aveline is surprised to discover Tiana is little more than a slave - and harboring a secret the wealthy Hanovers cannot risk being revealed in two months, on Tiana's 18th birthday.

Determined to keep the Hanover girl alive, Aveline must learn how to protect Tiana from the other Hanover's or wind up dead alongside her ward.

This is a young adult, post-apocalyptic series.

Did not want it to end!

Dang, Lizzy Ford writes with no fear. You pretty much never have any idea what it waiting around the corner... or if you will even walk near a corner! This was a gripping story... even when I was not listening I found myself stopping to think on this. For the beginning of a series, this holds it's own ground. I think the narrator did a great job especially with the main characters you meet. You always know who is talking and almost what they are thinking. It is so hard to describe this story, but having been to Vegas and stayed in the Luxor, I could see some of the locations clearly, while things around that had changed. Really this was an experience, one I wished I could have slowed down to linger in but I had to listen as much as I had to breathe. A+

Loved It!!!

Would you consider the audio edition of Aveline to be better than the print version?

Yes, I would rather listen to Lizzy's books because they are so much fun

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I love all of this authors books and can never get enough of them.

Any additional comments?

This book was an awesome start o a new series by Lizzy Ford. I loved meeting all the new characters and thought the storyline was really refreshing compared to what out there right now. I wanted to gobble this book all up in one session. I also really liked the narrator on this one. The book seemed to go really smoothly. Would I recommend this book? Heck yes I would, I cant wait to read the others.

Reading -vs- listening

I love Litzy Fords books , but I think the reader needed to use more inflection and emotion while telling an action filled story.
