Publisher's summary

CIA agent Jordan Sandor returns with a vengeance - putting his life at risk deep within in the Venezuelan jungle to take down a ruthless mastermind and terrorist in a thriller that "will keep you turning the pages all the way to its explosive ending" (Vince Flynn).

All the bureaucratic scolding in Washington won't stop CIA Agent Jordan Sandor when he's hungry for revenge. His newest target: Venezuelan drug lord Adina, a coldblooded sociopath with a taste for slaughtering innocent people - including Sandor's close friend.

Despite stern warnings from his superiors, Sandor mobilizes a team of skilled, dedicated agents to secretly penetrate the Venezuelan jungle. Armed with little more than a combat knife and a deadly automatic weapon, Sandor infiltrates Adina's camp and discovers that the ruthless terrorist is smuggling not only cocaine into the United States but also a deadly substance that could cost tens of thousands of lives.

Sandor's intel leads him to Egypt and Moscow, but when he lands on Interpol's list of international fugitives, the truth becomes clear: Adina's evil web is far-reaching. Sandor refuses to end his perilous mission, however, even after being taken captive. When he uncovers Adina's plan for a catastrophic assault on New York City, he knows he has no choice: he must risk his life to protect his country's safety and freedom.

One of the BEST ESPIONAGE Series... REALLY!!!

This book is great! Within the first few minutes this story takes off at a fast pace and continues to accelerate. The book begins with Jordan Sandor making plans to fly solo into a Venezuelan compound owned by Adina. Adina is a terrorist from the previous book responsible for many deaths. Sandor has made it his mission to make sure that Adina will not have the chance to wreak that kind of havoc on American soil again.
Once on Adina's compound Sandor finds that Adina has a lab. He's producing both cocaine and anthrax. Jordan knows he must abandon his mission of assassination and instead get information back to the US of what Adina is producing and figure out what his plans are.
As in the previous books Sandor follows a global trail pursuing clues that will lead him to putting a stop to Adina's plans.
This is an exceptionally good espionage novel. The plot is complex, the characters are believable.
Christopher Lane does a wonderful job narrating. I really hope the author doesn't change narrators because Lane (for me) has become the voice of Jordan Sandor.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Outstanding CIA agent series!

Protagonist CIA agent Jordan Sandor does not always take direction well, but he does almost always make the right decisions. Targets of Revenge is Book 3 in the four novel Jordan Sandor series by Jeffrey S. Stephens. Stephens is a great story teller putting him on par with the most recognized espionage thriller writers; yes, he is that good. I look forward to Rogue Mission which is the final novel in the series. My thanks to Audible listener Shelley of Raleigh NC whose review of Targets of Deception alerted me to this wonderful series. With the recent updates to the Audible listener page (they ruined it!) following other Audible listeners is more difficult but not impossible. As I have come to expect from Christopher Lane he nailed the narration. The Jordan Sandor series has my HIGHEST POSSIBLE RECOMMENDATION!

Done with this series

I have now listened to the first 3 books in this series and Jordan Sanders' character has degrade to someone who is no longer hero material. When you no longer like the hero, why listen to more? It really isn't pleasant. Sander rushes around the planet bullying and killing, being smarter than everyone else. The relationships he had in the first novel are gone (or barely mentioned). It is just one scene after another of action without a touch of humanity or relationships. No humanity, no human anchor. This is the last book I will listen to in the series. If you want only action you will like this. If you like character development, a richness and depth to the characters, human connection, as well as tension (will he survive? what he figure it out?) then this isn't the novel for you.
