Publisher's Summary

Ryder Rodgers had a plan. He was going to stride into the conference room, do the required song and dance over the next five days, and win the biggest contract of his career. But when he walksed in and heard the voice of one of his competitors, all his plans were shot to hell. Harper Denton. She was always on top. In college. First in their class. Always using every advantage to edge him out to win the coveted positions. The only one who could beat him. His academic rival. More like a constant thorn in his side. And his ego.

When he heard her voice, he was brought back to years before. To the bitter taste of being second best. But the woman who met his gaze is nothing like the drab wallflower he used to know. Hell no. She was all woman now: curves, confidence, and staggering sex appeal. And, no doubt, still brilliant. The fact that she was gorgeous and bright wouldn't distract him. This time Ryder was determined to be the one on top. But not if Harper could help it.

Where is the rest???

This book really had me going, then it abruptly ended before you feel like the story was over. As ALWAYS the narration duo was amazing!!! I normally really like Bromberg books. When it ended I had to check to make sure that it wasn't a mistake...it wasn't. Disappointed!!

It was just okay

Of course my favorite narrators aided in my decision to finish the book and there were some cute moments but the book as a whole didn't do much for me. The two main characters were college debate study buddies and rivals. On graduation day they went there separate ways NY and LA only to end up on a 3 day bid together 13 years later. While there were cute moments there were some things he left unsaid for me and the flow left some things to the imagination that I would've like to read in the story. Even the ending felt unfinished.

Way Too Short, With the Best Narrators!

3.25 stars. Narration 5 stars! I know it’s a novella, but I wanted more story. It just was so short and ended so abruptly. Not faulting the writer in any way though. It’s just the nature of the 1001 Dark Nights series that leaves me frustrated almost every time. It was a bit over two hours and featured two of my favorite narrators, Sebastian York and Andi Arndt. I see their names and I want to listen. Available on the Audible Romance Package and recommended to romance readers that just want a short listen. (less)

Left breathless

Anticipation built seamlessly. My imagination ran wild as my heart raced while listening to the intimate details. Glad I was alone :)

Love Arndt and York

The narrators are the dynamic duo. The story is very ordinary. Love the beard burn though!

Loved it!

This audiobook might be a novella but it’s every bit as good as a full length novel with great characters and lots of sexual chemistry and two of the best narrators in the business.

Sweet rivalry

Short and sweet, and sooo sexy! God, the chemistry between Harper and Ryder in this book from the very beginning of the prologue was off the charts! Can you even imagine 13 years of built up sexual tension?!?! Fantastic story and integrity! Love Ryder! And does it get any better than Andi Arndt and Sebastian York?? Those two are amazing in anything they do, but together they are magic! Loved every single second of this audiobook!!

I need more Ryder and Harper!

This sexy second chance quickie left me wanting so much more. It was funny and entertaining and the chemistry between Ryder and Harper was explosive. I hope this isn’t the last time we see these two.

LOVED IT!

I am TOTALLY reading these books out of the order. I am reading them as I find them hahaha. I do not think it really matters?? The story follows Harper and Ryder. They went to college together back in the day and were rivals but there was a chemistry there. Years later they come face to face and toe to toe again. They both want the account and each other. This was CUTE. I adored it. I loved Ryder and Harper. They were perfect enemies and perfect lovers. Too cute. I especially liked Ryder as an adult....I have a crush on him. ;) Successful...tattooed...smart....funny....sweet....ruthless....and ethical. He is fantastic. Harper was fun. I would want her on my side for sure! This was quick and short and I wanted more, but it did well for being short. We got to see them overcome their rivalry and their pride to become best friends and lovers. I'm glad this was a good stand-alone. The narrators were perfect for the roles. Overall, I highly recommend this. This was really good and the narrators made it even better. I'll give this a 5.

The book had promise but it did not deliver.

I ‘read’ this book because it was narrated by Sebastian York and Andi Arndt, who are some of my favorite narrators. They make any book sound good. Not only was this book well acted, the author, K. Bromberg, is an expert writer in the romance troupe. The book had characters that pulled me into their lives, dialogue that moved the story, inner dialogue with the right emotional hooks, descriptions that helped me start ‘the heroes’ journey’, lots of ‘show not tell’ and an unobtrusive but effective author’s voice. The book had promise but it did not deliver. What it lacked was a plot. It was two characters in an interesting setting going nowhere doing nothing. It had a beginning but no middle or end. The heroes’ journey didn’t happen. Very little of the plot lead to real character growth, it lacked a significant catalyst for change.

Gorgeous

Great book with fabulous chemistry between the characters but it was a bit of an abrupt ending. I wanted an epilogue. Sexy and passionate. No cheating. Excellent performances from Andi Arndt and Sebastian York.
