Contains all five books in the Station Cores series:

  • The Station Core - Book 1
  • The Quizard Mountains - Book 2
  • The Guardian Guild - Book 3
  • The Kingdom Rises - Book 4
  • The Other Core - Book 5

In addition, there are some bonuses:

  • Hand-drawn maps (admittedly done by me without much artistic talent) that I used to help me write the series
  • A fun 12,000-word short story that combines the Dungeon World and Station Cores universes.

Milton Frederick was originally abducted from his apartment to help defend one batch of pacifistic aliens called The Collective against another set of homicidal aliens called Heliothropes...but he never quite made it that far. Instead, during the process where his human consciousness was ripped from his body and inserted into a massive metal contraption called a Station Core, the ship that he was being transported on blew up and he was sent hurtling through space.

Crash-landing on an unknown planet with just a foot-and-a-half tall, foul-mouthed, nanite-formed AI guide called ALANNA to tell him what happened, Milton has to come to terms with his new existence as a giant metal egg, defend his hazardously-in-need-of-repair outer shell from the dangerous local wildlife (including blood-thirsty squirrels), and manage the unique radiation spewing from his damaged internal reactor - all while figuring out how the heck to get off the planet.

All of his work building a “dungeon” underground, defending it with makeshift traps, and filling it with small Combat Units may work well enough against the random beasts wandering around, but they’re next to useless when something else even more dangerous shows up knocking on his door: people. Not humans, of course, but the local equivalent - Proctans - who are similar enough to Milton’s original species...though with one major difference.

They all have unique special abilities that looks suspiciously like “magic”.

However, there is an even bigger threat that looms on the horizon not only for Milton, but all the Proctans as well....

loved this compilation. very nice long satisfying story about a futuristic dungeon core forced into a medieval, alien world. Has aspects of personal development, armies, village buildings, system learning and smoothly incorporated stats.

awesome listen

Like the title says, there's no real reason this book should have been litrpg. They could have made the story work without those elements and it would have been a lot better. The fact that it is litrpg makes no sense, despite the ais weak logic to why it is that way lore wise. I can appreciate a good litrpg, but throwing stats into a book that could have done without does not do that.

Speaking of the ai, she is possibly the most annoying character ever. To be clear, I have no problem with swearing at all, but the sheer VOLUME of her swears, rarely for any reason, is just obnoxious. And even later in book 2 where she tones it down she's sill an annoying character that is not helpful at all, despite being designed to teach him.

For the stats, besides the point that they are not necessary for the story, they are also distracting. Yes, it's possible to skip the star chapters, but it pulls me out of the story when every time a new character or animal is seen, the story abruptly STOPS and goes into a Stat chapter. Even if there was only 1 sentence so far on the chapter.

I was leaning towards 2 stars, but had to give the author credit for having the willpower to write 50 hours worth of book (well, maybe 30 if you subtract the stats and repeated level up dialog), this book actually drove me to go reread The Divine Dungeon so I could read a non litrpg dungeon core book done right.

Would have been better if not litrpg

Okay I see a lot of reviews bashing the stats but don’t let that fool you folks! Each stat chapter is skippable and you miss none of the story if you do so. The author set it up so you can listen if you want or skip to the story without missing a thing. Author loves the stats like many of us do but you’re not forced to listen to the stats unless you choose to.

So freaking fun! And stat chapters are skippable!

As with so many others the lengthy stat sections need a different format. maybe just the stats that changed, but reciting all stats from the beginning of the 4 book series everytime seems like you are padding the word count or the number of hours the book takes.
That being said I liked the story and the pace.

just my opinion
