Publisher's summary

What happens when a trained fairy assistant becomes the very object she was meant to guide?

Contains all four books in the Dungeon Fairy series:

  • The Dungeon Fairy
  • The Dungeon Fairy: Two Choices
  • The Dungeon Fairy: Three Lives
  • The Dungeon Fairy: Four Days

All that Tacca GloomLily ever wanted to be since she was very little was a fairy assistant to a Dungeon Core. After her negatively portentous birth, however, she was never fully accepted by her superstitious peers and instructors at the Dungeon Assistant Preparatory School. Nevertheless, she persisted in her studies and graduated at the top of her class.

Unfortunately for her, the “hands-on” training she was supposed to receive from a mentor and his bonded Dungeon Core didn’t go the way she would’ve hoped. In fact, the stigma attached to her origins finally made itself known in the form of horrendously “bad luck”; the rotten part of her newly discovered luck was that it adversely affected Cores that she happened to be near, and not just herself.

What can a dungeon assistant fairy do when every Dungeon Core she gets near ends up being destroyed? Tacca had no idea, but a solution eventually presents itself - though it was one that she never saw coming....

This story contains Dungeon Core elements, such as dungeon construction and defense, LitRPG/GameLit mechanics such as character progression and stats. It contains no harems, sexual content, or profanity.

Great Entertainment

This book although fun was very thought provoking . such as who will we evolve as human spiritual beings. What if one day we could shape shift into very magical being that are the Supreme Beings of our own universes. what would we create? Great writing. Thank you Johnathan Brooks. I listened to you while gardening for a winery. You enhanced my day. Karyn

Excellent value

Thank you Jonathan Brooks for bundling this! Although book one started off a bit shaky in terms of editing (grammar and structure), and also the narrator seemed a bit clunky, but the story was compelling enough. If it was not a bundle then it would be 50/50 chance of me continuing the series. The writing and narration improve from book to book. By the end I was impressed - and I'm not the biggest fan of Dungeon Core stories. I thought this was going to be a filler series, and was happily surprised, and so very happy the ~43hrs of story was available for 1 credit!

EXCELLENT STORY IN ALL WAYS!

I REALLY ENJOYED THIS STORY. FIRST OF JONATHON BROOKS I'VE LISTENED TO AND I REALLY THOUGHT I WAS GAMBLING ON A NEW AUTHOR (NEW TO ME!) AND FOUR BOOKS FOR ONE CREDIT. BUT I WAS VERY HAPPY TO FIND THE ENTIRE STORY ENGAGING ALL THE WAY TO THE END. VERY GOOD NARRATOR, EASY TO TELL WHO THE DIFFERENT VOICES BELONGED TO!

I WILL BE BUYING AND LISTENING TO MORE OF HIS WORK. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ONE TO EVERYBODY. GOOD FOR YOUR KIDS TOO AS IT HAS NO CURSING OR HAREM ELEMENTS. GOOD, CLEAN FUN!

dungeon POV hit

Jonathan Brooks and Miles Meili teamed up for another excellent series of dungeon core novels. I enjoyed listening to this series, and look forward to what happens next for Tacca

My first Audible.

So this was my first audible book. I loved it. I have read other books by Jonathan Brooks so I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed. The story moves along nicely. Just the right amount of back and forth between the dungeon and raider points of view. The narration was great. The different voices easy to recognize. It really helped to build the visuals in my mind. I can’t wait to read more about Tacca.

Loved it!

Love dungeon core novels? Check this guy out! seriously he pumps out like nobodies business and they're fantastic! Between this and core of fear I can't tell which is my favorite! Loved the nod to Clive!

Not what I was expecting (in a good way)

I thoroughly enjoyed this series. The twists and turns made this set stand out from other dungeon-type books. Jonathan Brooks is now on my short-list of authors to watch for new novels.

What a great series and all in one credit!

Jonathan Brooks is one of my go to authors but I’d been hesitant about starting this series. I didn’t think I’d like a series centered around a dungeon *fairy* but it turns out to get really complicated really fast. Kinda how the protagonist’s life seems to operate. It turns into a really fun story without too much over explaining. The narration is excellent and one credit for four books and a day and a half of dungeon goodness.

I like how it is solid and true to the universe every story exists in. there is there so much variety in experience and all the details add up to more development and adventure ✨️ 😊

well worth the listening!

Great storyline and extremely well narrated. found the evolving story, growing naturally as the series progressed, to be clever and exciting and captivating to the end.

A middling time filler

*Plot points discussed below but no real spoilers*

I'm no connoisseur of dungeon core books but shouldn't they focus on the dungeon?
This series starts off good with the creation of rooms and traps followed by the adventurers' reactions to the same but then the story drifts away to a national defense from outside forces story.

Also besides the violence everything is very PG with the Good characters being all about the good of the community and the Evil characters are purely motivated by selfish reasons. No shades of gray to be seen anywhere.

Oh, and the plot armor is firmly on. While one of the side characters do not meet a nice ending that part feels like an alibi the author can point to and say "see! My characters are really at risk here." when they're really not.

So finally the TLDR verdict.
Did I enjoy it despite its weakness? In the beginning absolutely then less and less as non dungeon plots took over.
would I buy this book again if it got lost somehow? No.

A bit explainy

I'm not a DC enthusiast, but this one was pretty good with some nice twists. Sometimes it could be a bit wordy and explainy and I thought, yeah I get it, get on with the story already.

The performance was not great, the narrator isn't a very good voice actor and all females sound like really old ladies

Good dungeon core story

I enjoyed the plot and most of the characters in this story however I did feel in places that there were too many options described to us and wondered if it might have been better had it been edited slightly for the audiobook.
If you are able to skip some of the wordier sections is think it's a good read.

Dislaimer: I received a free copy to review but my opinions are my own.

At its core just a great story

Another fantastic Dungeon Core story by Jonathan Brooks, this time featuring the wonderful, quirky dungeon fairy Tacca. The story and the bigger picture unfolds nicely over the four books. As this is a litrpg dungeon core story there are lots of stats and tables, the chapters are set up in a way that you can skip these if you want to. Jonathan as usual manages to straddle the line of story/stats really well and has created a wonderful story. Miles Mili as usual puts in a great performance.

Happily Suprised

A well detailed adventure into the Dungeon Core realm , characters have depth and there is a lot of logic to the plot
Only my 2nd novel in this genre and it’s suitable for all ages as no profanity or harem .
Well worth the price of a credit for the box set
