Denial: refusing to admit the truth or reality of something unpleasant…

His mother has been arrested, his government is under new threat, the relentless media is driving him mad, and denial becomes the word of the day for President Nick Cappuano.

Meanwhile, his wife, DC Metro Police Lt. Sam Holland Cappuano has caught a big new case with suspects everywhere she looks. Watch for her partner, Detective Freddie Cruz, to take center stage in this investigation when a variety of personal situations keep Sam off the job.

With the countdown on to their second anniversary, the first couple is keeping their heads down and their eyes on the prize of a week away from the capital city. But with threats circling all around them, will they be able to make it happen?

The fifth First Family book picks up right where State of Shock left off, with Sam and her family continuing to absorb the loss of a beloved family member as she and her team work to clean up the mess former Lt. Stahl has left behind.

You must read along with all of the other books from the series. Sam and Nick and all of their friends are just wonderful to loose your self for a few hours. Start with the Fatal Series you love them.

As usual it keeps you on the edge of your seat. I can’t wait for the novella in December or the next in the series next year

It's nice to escape into the hectic lives of Nick, Sam, their large extended family and co-workers. I've listened to this book twice and enjoyed every twist and successful plot solved. Hints of what's to come plus how much Nick's mother hates her. More to listen to in December and next year with State of Bliss as a short book and State of?????.........

Another great book from Marie Force!

Marie Force had me in tears in the first chapter and I knew that this book was going to be an emotional roller coaster of a listen.

I was so invested in this audiobook and the story that Ms. Force wove, that I listened to it in almost one sitting. Eva Kaminsky did a wonderful job bringing the story to life for me and her voice is easy to listen to as she narrates. Having said that I would dearly love it if Ms. Force considered a male narrator for her male characters, but that is just my opinion.

Ms. Force delivered a story that had me on the edge of my seat whilst listening. Adding in the struggles that Sam is dealing with, and it made for a captivating listen. There were a number of twists and turns, and I cannot wait to see what happens next with the First Family and their family and friends.
