Publisher's Summary

Books one, two and three in the Skulduggery Pleasant series - known collectively as the Faceless Ones Trilogy, Derek Landy's fantastically imaginative series about our favourite dead detective.

Skulduggery Pleasant

Stephanie's uncle Gordon is a writer of horror fiction. But when he dies and leaves her his estate, Stephanie learns that while he may have written horror, it certainly wasn't fiction.

Playing with Fire

With Serpine dead, the world is safe once more. At least, that’s what Valkyrie and Skulduggery think, until the notorious Baron Vengeous makes a bloody escape from prison and dead bodies and vampires start showing up all over Ireland.

The Faceless Ones

Skulduggery Pleasant and his wonderfully cheeky and inquisitive side kick, Valkyrie, take us through another journey, which promises to be filled with adventure, dark, mysterious meetings and classically funny moments.

Just WOW !

Wasn’t sure about this series at all . In fact , it took me longer to get through these first 3 then it should have bc of spring break vacation and going out of town and not being able to listen like I want …I’m so glad I read them though !! Now on to the next one . If your aren’t sure , it’s definitely worth it . They are funny , mysterious and even dark ! You won’t regret it

The voice are everything

The voice narration accompanied by the music make this book great from a long ride trip to and from Maine. Story tell at its finest.

Great for a multigenerational car ride.

Both adults and kids enjoyed this three book series. We listened to this as a audio book in our car.

Ok

I like this book and I got the audiobook to reread it. Unfortunately I'm not a fan of the wierd noises and looooooong bits of music between chapters. I would really prefer if it just went on the the next chapter without a bunch of weirdness.

Witty, clever, fun, and smart!

Skulduggery Pleasant, book #1, by Derek Landy is probably a middle grade book but I don't care that I'm not. I laughed as hard as any school girl throughout this book! This is so fun, witty, full of snark (often from the girl), magic, and adventure...oh, and a skeleton as the main character! Oh sure, the girl is co-founded main character but who gets more looks in the car? Adult or child, add this to your list and do something good for your self. The Audible version is fantastic! The performance is so much better than what I could have imagined. Terrific story, awesome narration! I like the 2-3 second music between scenes and chapters.

Playing with Fire
(Skulduggery Pleasant #2)
by Derek Landy
Yes, this is made for middle grade kids but like Harry Potter, grown ups know a good thing when they see it! These are clever, witty, and well thought out books that so entertaining that I just have to have! The first one was hilarious and this one less funny but still very clever! I enjoy the adventures the girl and the skeleton get into. Each have powers. Stephanie/Valkarie can use her mirror image as a double so her parents don't know when she is gone.
Bad guys are after her for a variety of reasons. Speaking of bad guys, they are some strange duds themselves! Wow! Love the imagination!
Narration terrific!

The Faceless Ones
(Skulduggery Pleasant #3)
by Derek Landy
The snark, wit, clever dialogue, and wild adventures get even crazier in this book! The dreaded Faceless Ones make it a face-off with Valkyrie and Skulduggery. There are loads of other things going on too which is normal for these two!
All of it is full of fun, action, and snark! The ending was very different but now we know what the next adventure will be anyway! Lol! Love this crazy series!
The narration is absolutely brilliant!
