the story telling is geart.

I have loved this series for a few years now. I am so happy I can listen to it now while I wait for the next book in the series to come out. also I really like the MC in the series because he is not a complete idiot like a lot of other MC out there. The story is good too.

a little different from the anime, but in a good way. if you enjoyed the series you'll like the book

This was a grest start to a series that led to questionable choices by the author.

About the narrator, I keep waiting for Captain Hiro to tell Mimi and Elma to get into their flight seats to battle space pirates... It's that distinctive you can't really mistake his voice from others, (Reincarnated as a Space Mercenary...). Still, he should have narrated "Now I'm a Demon Lord..." and that narrator done this instead. The voice actor from the anime series did not perform this and that's pretty obvious from the difference in portrayal, especially of Arc's heroic public persona. This narrator makes him sound more like a grizzled veteran assassin than a gallant knight.

Spoiler alert, the fact that Arc informs the elves that he's a human, but in a later volume of the series is discovered to be an elf seems like a big retcon. How would you play a game so much that you spend hours daily on it and forget what species your character is? The other issue i have is that there are all of these nuggets of foreshadowing of a potential romantic relationship for Arc, but then, just as it's getting close, the next volume has nothing about that like the events of previous volumes never happened. it's almost like the later volumes were written before the middle volumes and ignored critical details with no intention of following through with the promises made.

better than the manga and anime

overall it's really great. it smuch better than the anime, it stops too short though. I was hoping for the later books but I don't see it happening anytime soon.

the performance isnt terrible though it's a bit difficult to tell when the character is conversing vs narrative.

Just get through it

The prologue has some explicit parts that might be hard for some to hear. If you can hold out for the about 5 minutes of it, its very satisfying when they are ruthlessly killed. But if you need to skip the worst of the explicit part its in the prologue at about 8 minutes to about 13 minutes. That time frame should let you get all the story parts but skips the less than savory parts.

Now the rest of the story is much better. I've seen the anime version and its almost like 2 different stories. This version the story flows much better and the characters interact much better. I look forward to the next one to come out.
