It was nice to get a side story in this universe but overall I wasn't too thrilled with the book. The first two-thirds of the book is filled with annoying a-hole characters. It was practically a parade of terrible people being mean to the main character. All I wanted in life was for someone to just punch them already - the loser man-babies on the ship, especially. But that never happens. Of course, things turn around for our plucky main character in the usual way and all sins are forgiven. It was an expected ending but at least not a bad one. My eyes do hurt a bit from rolling, though.

Overall this was good. I have to say though, the narration left a lot to be desired. It had a very choppy flow to the reading. It almost felt like early to mid 2000 auto text reading. I had to periodically check to see if this was AI or not. Like, I heard other titles that had AI reading and it was very good compared to this. I didn't learn til like under 2 hours left to speed up the playback. After that it felt doable to finish listening to the story. I wonder if it was meant to be listened to sped up that way?

I finished the story to see how it would end. It was good, can't complain too much. I am glad this was under the plus umbrella to check out. I'd be irritated if I spent money on this.

I liked the main story much better to this.
