Publisher's summary

Tyler Faulkner lived for his work, constructing Hollywood sets. His designs were perfect, and he expected equal perfection from his crew and himself. But, talented as he was, he felt trapped. A creative clash with a producer left him out of more than just a job, and Tyler decided that maybe a new beginning was exactly what he needed.

Seth Goodwin was reliable. So rock-steady that his father made him a partner in the family construction business over his older brothers. Seth's job was simple-he took a highly skilled crew out on the road to build ridiculously expensive projects for rich clients. Their success prompted Seth and his dad to hire a new designer.

Seth wasn't so steady around Tyler. Tyler didn't simply draw art; he forced it into reality, elbowing his way into Seth's work crew and life, whether he wanted him there or not. But Seth had a secret he's been keeping for a long while, and Tyler, flamboyant and verbose, wasn't someone who fit in a closet, unless he was looking for the perfect shoes to go with his outfit. Would Seth and Tyler be able to make it work? Or would everyone's secrets catch up with them?

finding your family

My heart completely melted when Seth manned up and went after Tyler. From that point on it was rainbows 🌈 and sunshine for me *sighs*
Tyler was beyond sweet and had my empathy from the start. He was searching for his personal and finally found him and an accepting family. Lots of warm and fuzzies. I especially liked hearing about Pittsburgh points of interest because I'm from around that area. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator was good, but I don't think he fit this couple.

Fun listen

Enjoyed this one from a fairly new to me author, Ki Brightly. It was a fun read with engaging characters and a quick paced plot. I had never listened to this narrator before and he did a nice job but his voice was very youthful and I didn't feel it fit the characters well.

Secret Seth

Secret Seth is slow burn love story about Seth and Tyler. Tyler is a designer and goes to work for Seth's family's construction business. This is an enjoyable story and Seth and Tyler got their happy ending.
Narrator Kaeomakana Tiwanak does a fabulous job. I really enjoy the emotion he puts into bringing characters to life.

Being yourself

Tyler was out, proud and very sure of himself. When he finds himself without a job, his new job brings him into Seth's life.
Seth is more on the quiet side. He is still to figure himself out and realize who he is at his core.
What starts of as a friendship between co workers slowly leads to more for these two as Tyler in his own way helps Seth find and accept his trueself.
In doing so, both men get to find just a little something that they were both lacking in their lives. For Tyler, it was the family he didn't have and for Seth it was a special someone to call his own.

The narration was a bit slow for my tastes and it did take me a while at times to figure out which characters POV I was listening to.
Other than that, I enjoyed the story as a whole.

Great Story

Strong characters and a great storyline. This is my first audiobook by this narrator and I wasn’t a huge fan.

Sweet story!

Secret Seth is a sweet slow-burn story of two men Seth Goodman and Tyler Faulkner. Seth and Tyler are total opposites from each other. Tyler is flamboyant, gay, and artistic, while Seth is not. Seth has only been with one man in his life. Seth comes from a good family, while Tyler comes from a family that doesn't accept his lifestyle. When Tyler loses his job in LA as a set designer and has nowhere to go, Seth's dad hires him to be the new designer for his company. It doesn't take long for the men on the construction crew to take a liking to Tyler and it doesn't take long for Seth to begin having feelings for him. Although it's slow-burn, you can feel the relationship growing from the time he begins with Seth's company.

I liked that the story was told from dual points of view, but I wish it would have been told with two narrators. It was a bit confusing at times as to which character was talking regardless of the fact the narrator reads the title of each chapter. Although Kaeomakana Tiwanak did a great job, his tone with both characters made me a little uncomfortable at times. The plot and build-up of their relationship were on point and I liked the involvement of supporting characters. If I were to read this again, I would definitely read it not listen to it. The narrator just wasn't my favorite. I would definitely recommend it as a read.

I listened to this book for an honest review as part of the GRR ARC review program.

Sweet slowburn story about finding love and family

Sweet slow-burn story about finding love and family.   I really enjoyed these MC's, they are both likable and interesting guys.  I found the dynamics of Seth's family interesting as they navigate their family business.  The story-line was interesting and i enjoyed the different jobs the company took on. Creative and fun.

I loved Tyler and how he was his own person and worked so hard to do a great job.  I enjoyed how the dynamics grew and changed between Tyler and Seth as their friendship grew and moved to love.  My heart hurt for Tyler as his family dynamics were brought to light.  I thought Seth's mom was wonderful.

This is a new to me narrator, and they are okay.  Their voice didn't add to the story for me, but it also didn't distract from it.  The listen was an enjoyable experience.

This is a new to me author and i will definitely check out more of their work.

It was you being here

Okay, I had to do a double take to make sure this is a Ki Brightly book. Don’t get me wrong, I love them and their unconventional and unique style of story telling but this wasn’t what I expected at all but ended up being a sweet and pleasant surprise.

Seth has always been reliable, dependable and well, I can you all the adjectives but you get the gist. He’s now working in the family business with his dad and has to go out of town a lot for the work. He has never been interested in anyone and his heavy work load wasn’t helping in love life. Cue and enter Tyler, who’s flamboyant, colorful and unapologetically himself and in your face. Tyler is a designer who’s in need of a new job and Seth just happened to need one. But when Seth and Tyler started to work together, Seth found out he’s not as stable and unshakable as once he thought he was. Tyler makes him feel things .. things he never felt for anyone ever. And perhaps, it’s time to pursue love rather than working all day every day.

This is sweet, realistic, warm-hearted and slow-burn. Seth’s story is loud and in your face but they are very kind and supportive. And I love how Seth got his sexuality gently awakened by Tyler. And poor Tyler who just wanted to find someone who will love him for who he is, I’m so glad that he found his home in Seth’s heart. All in all, not at all usually Ki Brightly style book but really good and sweet. I enjoyed this book.

Super cute and enjoyable!

The first thing I noticed and loved about this book is the attention to detail. In the first first scenes you have Seth perfectly describing the Christmas party he’s attending and it’s so well done you can imagine it perfectly.

Seth and Tyler have a coworkers-to-friends-to-lovers in a slow burn that last the entire book and builds so high. It makes when they do become more so much better, the wait is well worth it.

Tyler is very open and Seth still has to work through his feelings on being with a man. Tyler doesn’t really know it, but he’s the one helping Seth through all those emotions.

Worth the listen. Really enjoyed it.

Personal listening opinion: Initially, I thought I was going to have some issues with the narrator, but then I quickly realized it was just too slow. I upped the read speed to 1.3x and it was prefect (for me). I know this is a personal opinion and that’s why I put that as a note first.
