Good listen

Good pace and story I wish he would spend more on class building but I can’t wait for the next one

Good One!

I enjoyed listening to this. It got a good story, action-filled, and tons of fun moments. It's so great to continue the gang's adventure and to see how they have grown and developed their skills. The only thing that's a bit off with me was the chapter breaks. I felt they were kind of awkward.

Steve Campbell did amazing as always! His narration made this even better! Well done, sir!

I can't wait to listen to the next one!

Anime is alive :)

Feels like a friggin' anime, only short of the obligatory bathing suit episode.
The story is fun and direct like the first one, the focus on what's important and which things get briefly touched on could be improved.
I had so much fun reading this and the characters are someone I want to cheer for

There was every little lead-in to connect with the previous book, so if it's been a while, you might need to go check the last few chapters.

All in all, it could do with a bit of editing, but other than that it's a great book

as for the narration, Steve is amazing and there's no other way to describe his multitude of voices and how consistently he hits every single one of them again and again

I enjoyed this

As a fan of the authors previous books I enjoyed this book a lot tho sometimes I felt like there wasn’t a main big goal in this book because of how fast things get resolved event too event I hope the next book slows down a little bit and goes more into detail about a big main event in the story

Fair warning

I am hesitant to be too critical, because this appears to have been written by a child, so I will simply note that it appears to have been written by a child. With no editor.

hall of fame level of cringy

I hated that I wasted time and a credit listening to this. The narrator is the only reason I heard the whole thing. Narrator did an excellent job trying to make something of this chaotic jumble of crap. How many chapters do you need?? I think the author got paragraphs and chapters mixed up because there's no way he needed like 5 chapters for a fight that didn't even last that long. The amount of repetition in this book is hall of fame worthy aswell. I want someone to find out exactly how many times "brown haired red eye'd boy" is said in this book. I'm not going to mention the awful naming or the crappy tropes because other people have already done that. 1st book was alright but this one should have never seen the light of day. Bit dramatic I know but I hate myself for listening to the whole thing.

Another Great Book

This was a great installment to the series I can't wait for book 3 and to see what our favorite characters will get up to next, and as always Steve did an amazing performance with the audio all around good work.

Over the top clichés

This book is filled with so many over-the-top clichés, and last minute rescues. It’s difficult to count how many times the main character was able to succeed with only seconds left before his death. I know this toy is a mashup between many popular story types right now. Classic fantasy, dungeon gates randomly opening, life regresses and LitRPG. But the show number of last-minute rescued, pulling out a new skill (you’ve been secretly training) at the last minute with flashback included. if I didn’t know, I would think that the author was making fun of these classic cliché, but it doesn’t come across that way. It’s more like if one cliché works let’s throw a bunch of them in there.

Interesting Premise and Powers

One of the main things that drew me into this was the MC's unique powerset and abilities. It was like a breath of fresh air from the stereotype archetype of MC's in this genre. The main drawback from this story would probably have to be the main antagonists or enemies Sam faces. It's like they literally all studied at the same "How to be an evil Jackass school" I kid you not they all do the following, Snicker, Have hate in their eyes, Smile Wickedly, Take delight in hurting people, kill, murder, extort etc etc. They all feel like they are copy and pasted same with the same description like how Sam's description is repeated with "Shaggy black haired traveler with the mysterious Red eyes".
I'm not saying it's bad but patterns do form you will notice it eventually.
There is a little plothole that was a little pet peeve and that's when people observe Sam's powerset nobody who matters notice that he had 4 total abilities instead of the 2 he's supposed to have. he legit had a city watching him and nobody commented on it. Anyway I'd give it a 8/10 the villains are basically all caricatures of grrr I'm evil and bad me ruin someone's life and it makes me feel good but seeing their cringe behavior getting stomped by Sam makes it all bearable

Forced romance and gets childish

The sad story to force a nonsensical Roma. Was annoying. Just a waste of time. Then it gets really childish with stuff like an arc to solve someone’s winter blues. It just made things silly in a dumb and pointless way.

Some weird plot devices are introduced. The totally undermine all the stuff he is doing. First a ridiculously overpowered class that doesn’t make sense(no, not the MC’s) then the mass idiocy because of someone having a high stat just undercut so many strong character is a pointless way. It really takes you out of the story. The world isn’t portrayed consistently and it’s changed for silly reasons.
