The worst thing about the end of the world is we did it to ourselves.

Isaac Thoma lived to see the last handful of survivors defeat the demonic champion. He is now alone, his past in ashes, the last and most powerful human on a blighted Earth. But what if he could go back?

Hurled back in time, Isaac has one chance to change it all. A chance to warn humanity of their impending doom. A chance to stop the [System] before shortsightedness and lust for power can render humanity extinct. Facing malign deities, demonic hordes, and the unstoppable march of human greed, Isaac will give his all to prevent the end that has already happened on the day the world became quantified.

Apocalypse Redux is a pre-apocalyptic LitRPG by Jakob H. Greif (a.k.a. Wilderfast). A rationalist approach to fighting the end of the world amidst mind-bending adventures and battles against infernal forces, Apocalypse Redux is the series that took RoyalRoad by storm. Buy it now to see if humanity’s fate can be changed. To see if one man with a second chance at life can rise up and make a difference.

This is a new take on an established genre. One that I think is much more realistic and intriguing. The MC is likable and has an actual plan to get things done that doesn’t just boil down to get as strong as possible and hope to beat anyone who steps up.

Wonderful

Hidden gem...

I missed this book because it looked like so many other books the plot summary and title and cover all reminded me of other books that where lack luster at best so I was going to skip it until it was recommended on a Facebook group and they normally have pretty good recommendations. so I gave book one a go and within the first hour I had already bought book 2 because I was enjoying book 1 so much.

Missed this gem.

This book could be dry at times, but it did a great job elaborating on how the system worked, and the various characters abilities. The reborn MC flavor is a lot of fun, and I'm looking forward to where it takes the story. I'm going to start reading the rest.

Great entry in the Reborn System Apocalypse subgenre

I liked that the Mc playing smart and quiet, and that the story's kinda slow and he's not instantly the strongest.

I honestly wasn't expecting the researcher role thing, but it was very welcome.

I like finding books like this that taking place in different areas of the world. I also love how this book references lit rpg

very good

I loved the unique approach of a slower, steadily progressing apocalypse, and the slow burn, analytical and scientific approach the main cast of characters takes to learn about and disseminate information about the system.

While there was plenty of the "numbers Go brrrrrrrr" satisfaction that the genre normally brings, I love the fact that the MC isn't stupidly overpowered for no reason, that he isn't clueless or an idiot, and everything happens for logical in-character reasons and NOT just because the plot needed it to happen.

The pacing was refreshing, the concept was fantastic, and the characters are actually likable and have their own personalities.

Looking forward to continuing the series.

Another reviewer complained about the lab tech part of the story, but that is an integral part of what the MCis trying to do. If that was removed, the book would be a completely different book. I think the author is very clear on what is being done and why. It makes sense in context.

Overall the book is pretty good. There are a couple places where maybe cultural terms or words from German were meaningless to me (e.g. graulich spelling?). This is very minor, and is the worst flaw I found. That specific word was clearly defined in the story, but I still tried to google it for a better context, with no luck.

The story was well written and flowed very well.

The MC is not a genius and does not have perfect knowledge of what will happen, which makes it feel more authentic. He even admits if he’d known that this would happen he would have spent more time prepping.

I enjoyed the story enough to get the next book in the series. It’s not the best story ever, but it is worth the credit.

Good story

The author makes some mistakes that authors in this genre makes, as in multiple stat updates without changes.
It is different from the normal time travel book in that he doesn’t just rush power to be a beacon of strength to lead the world, but instead becomes a researcher to help spread his knowledges and experience to the rest of the population. Book 1, I enjoyed it and look forward to how the story continues.
Really good narrator, solid story, goes over stats a bit too often.

It’s good and a little different
