Great Start

Great start to hopefully a long-running series. looking forward to more from the authors.

Disappointing

The author keeps using the same idioms over and over. It might be a bad translation, in which case I'm sorry for this review. The story just doesn't engage me. It's too much ego.

Ego Incarnate

I like OverPowered MC's, it's perhaps one of my most enjoyed narratives. This book shows some promise, but then it just keeps tripping over itself. First is the overly eloquent vocabulary in the beginning, which dies down a few hours in, but also I am unable to finish it because the book just isn't taking itself seriously.
There were some really potentially interesting scenes that Should have had really unique and interesting twists and solutions. However, time after time we get "I look sternly" or "I barked an order and people followed" was the solution. How... It breaks the entire character for me. Instead it would have at least been comical if he did/said those things, and nothing happened because it doesn't matter how "cool" or "awesome" you might think you are, that doesn't make trained military do your bidding. Ego is not mind control.
I don't know, I feel let down again, because it had an interesting premise, potentially unique magic, that fell on its face so fast... That's just my take though.
