Publisher's summary

Those wicked wizards are at it again! This time they are draining power from the Enchanted Forest. And that does not sit well with Mendanbar the King. On the advice of the witch Morwen, Mendanbar decides to consult with Kazul, the King of Dragons. When he arrives at Kazul's cave, he meets Princess Cimorene and learns that Kazul has been captured by those horrible wizards. Mendanbar and Cimorene will have to search for him, traveling over mountains and past man-eating giants, terrifying rock snakes, and an assortment of magic-wielders.

Charming story mostly wonderful cast

I adore this story. It’s funny and for young readers, plenty exciting. My only gripe was the vocal stylings of the magician character, who succeeded in making the character insufferable

Telemain almost made me quit

I stuck it out cuz I loved this story since childhood but overacting seems to be a requirement for this studio. The guy playing the magicians was so incredibly grating that I had to pause over and over again

Narration is awful

I adored these books when I was younger and was excited to listen to them. The first book wasn’t great performance-wise but it was tolerable. I even started to enjoy it toward the end. However as soon as they introduce Telemain into the situation things go downhill fast. And I mean physically cringing bad. I don’t know where this guy got the idea that this whiny, stuttering imbecile was the direction to take the character but it’s truly truly awful and such a disservice to the story and the character. Just read them and avoid the audiobooks all together.

Characters are amazing as always.

I can’t say that all voices matched the characters, but overall the story is fantastic and always unique with Patricia C. Wrede.
