Great Stories and Narration - Not Properly Sectioned

I’ve listened to all three books of the series enthusiastically. It’s a great collection of classic Sci-Fi. I had to drop the overall stars because of the laziness or just lack of care when putting together the audio book. Chapters are not named with individual authors. The publisher doesn’t bother to break it down into book parts (in this case individual stories) and then into sub chapters of those book parts which give much more control for selecting stories and when using sleep mode to listen to a full story at a time. The other editions at least had titles on the chapters.

Best SF audio book ever.

Anthologies are risky. Each story by a different author. Who can possibly like them all? You can! Each story in these three audiobook volumes is great. There is not a one that I did not love. Each was completely different from the other.

The narrators are wonderful as well, you probably already know them.

AUDIO SPACE VACATION!

Science Fiction made easy! An audio future cast direct to the frontal lobe. No screen required. BEST STORY & BEST NARRATOR goes to Gabriel Sloyer's rendition of THE MARTIAN WAY. He invited me inside the cabin and I took my seat for a starry journey through the galaxy. I'm new to the genre but found his characterizations recognizable and a pleasure to hear. Of course Asimov's forecast of an eternal search for resources is so timely that why not cruise through space to locate a creative source from another planet! Listening to these stories I realized how rapidly the fiction aspect is dissolving into Science Non Fiction. A lot of fun here.

Not as good as the other two

The previous two volumes are much better. There are hidden gems in here like E for Effort and The Martian Way, but most the other stories I had a hard time getting in to.

Few Lasers. Few epic space battles. Many complete yarns which explore human nature.

Fools who are often extremely poorly read & ignorant of history often dismiss science fiction, however in the 20th century has almost no Literary work which at the time it was written was not science fiction. Many of these tales if read today might be viewed as alternate history.

I think however they should remain viewed and categorized as science fiction simply because this genre is the one in modern times that challenges not only the idea of mountains place in the universe but our philosophies are relationships with one another the constant of war, of poverty, Of duplicity, murder, rape, no other genre shows the smallness in the greatness of an individual.

Not what I expected

Be advised this does not provide even a minimally
acceptable abridgement of at least some of the included stories.

I bought this as it supposedly had an audio rendering of James Schmitz's book, "The Witches of Karres." Wrong!!! it made an extreme abridgement of that book--3 of 12 chapters, 62 of 344 pages according to the copy of the book I have! I think that this was the worst purchase I have made from more nine hundred books in my Audible library!

Fails in execution.

Published without titles or authors listed, only 50+ chapter titles. Otherwise great stories and readings.

This isn't science fiction. It's fortune telling.

I have been entertaining myself with "vintage" sci-fi for a few years now. I've noticed how people decades ago have shaped the future; either as facts, or by prepping future fiction.

If you're a fan of science fiction from the 80's and later, do yourself a favor and look back further.

Absolute Classic

It doesn't take long to recognize these stories from their impact on authors and story writers from contemporary times.

Nearly perfect

4 and not 5 because the individual stories were not titled in the chapter breakdown and by the time each story is finished, I've forgotten the title and like to look back
