Publisher's Summary

We fought the invading New Men to a standstill and defeated the alien destroyer sent to obliterate Earth.

The worst should be over, but it's not.

Perfect android replicas are impersonating high-level officials so trust is failing. Worse, the New Men have found allies with an impenetrable stealth technology.

This time, however, Earth is going on the offensive. Admiral Fletcher is headed to C Quadrant with a Grand Fleet. He's to liberate the captured planets and find the enemy homeworld. What he isn't supposed to do is die.

The only one who can save humanity has been grounded. Captain Maddox is under suspicion because he's half New Man. But he's not going to stop. He's found something unbelievable. Now, he needs Starship Victory-an ancient, alien spacecraft-the AI Galyan, Meta, Sergeant Riker and the others to help him tear the greatest secret of all from the enemy.

Maddox and his crew must succeed or humanity will drown in a sea of human extinction.

Exciting continuation of this series!

The Lost Colony have some exciting twists and turns that leaves the reader in excited emotional turmoil, provided one negates some points of reality!
For example, Parkar's capture and subsequent interrogation where the Newman is not under chains and not locked to the floor by said chains, and the table is not bolted to the floor, making possible for his subsequent escape and causing havoc! Why would there be armed guards in the interrogation room with him where he has access to weapons? After all, he is a Newman, with super human abilities!
After all these books are fantasies!
Still a good book and worth the purchase and read or listen!!

Loved it, left me wanting more!

Great story line throughout the book series with progressive development of stories and characters. Lots of strategies that work well and lend believability. A fun, can't stop now read.
Mark Boyett is a great narrator with different voices for each character.

Excellent story

I read the first two books about a year. they were okay but I wasn't very enthused to move on to the next one. I finally picked up the third book recently and really liked it. This fourth book was even better and I am so glad that I got caught up on the series.

the storyline kind of takes a new twist in the last two books but it's a good one, I think. Also I've gotten to know the characters better so I can relate to them muchbetter as the series progresses.

I really like the fact that Driving Force Galleon and Captain Maddox have become friends. at first I thought that Maddox was such a stiff and so arrogant but that was part of the character-building. as the story moves along, his character becomes more flexible and is easier to relate to.

the Adventure Continues

I loved the story. As the fourth in the series this story continues where number three leaves off.

to fully grasp the intricacies of this story, you really need to read the first three stories by the author.

The performance by the narrator was really good and enjoyable. Although there were some of the voices of the characters that sounded similar, the narrator really did a nice job on separating the characters when he spoke.

I can't wait to listen to Volume 5!

Bummer, in my opinion!

I found this story had potential, but the development not to the standards of the previous books, which I liked much better!

could do with a trimming of the mainliners

No spoilers - just personal opinions.

The two main female characters are painful. Initially portraied as strong individuals they're now reduced to nuisance stereotypes from the 1920s.
Would story would be straight forward boring action without their superfluous interjections..
..As it is I find myself frustrated that the plot has been reduced to something barely worthy of a mid-season episode of Stargate Atlantis.

I guess not all that surprisingly I'm too stubborn to give up on this - so I will worm my carcass further down the rabbit hole to see where this leads...

Remember ..if there's light at the end of the tunnel it could be a train... if there no light you might be in a cave..
Personally I'd rather this story flattens me that it leading nowhere..

Use the force long, and prosper!

Take a Break

I only quite enjoyed this book as it was a little slow in places and not, in my opinion, up to the previous in the series. However, it will not deter me from purchasing the next one.

I should say the narration, as always, by Mark Boyett was as good as ever.

Great audio book

When you miss a book and hope it won't end you know it's been good. Enjoyed all 4 books, this the last one was as good as the others and equally enjoyable. Even the small touches of humour worked well, Galleons surprise party revelation to Valerie was excellent. Well thought out well narrated and plenty of Si Fi

Another great listen

I bought this with a little trepidation after reading a review saying it wasn't as good as previous books in the series.

I totally disagree. As usual the book has a good pace, with the usual mix of suspense, action and humour.

Can't wait for the next in the series - I am assuming there will be one.

Not the best of the series

This instalment of the series certainly isn't the best one. It felt more like a transition in the story from one major plot line to something larger come. On the whole it pretty slow and ponderous; with a lot of earth based back story and not enough space action. The big events around the last builder are certainly a highlight as was the full arrival of a new foe for humanity.
