Publisher's summary
After Earth is decimated, the entire remaining human population is marooned on an unfamiliar beach. The enigmatic winged Orangemen leave the survivors with instructions to remake their society, basic tools and weapons, and a few thousand books, including Bibles in many languages. As two generations are born and raised, conflicting theories as to the nature of the apocalypse continue to simmer.
Fifty years later, the arrival of a new family that shouldn't exist threatens the delicate peace holding humanity together. Two young soldiers, John Giordano and Kendra McQueen, venture into the unexplored wilderness beyond the city walls in search of answers. But their disquieting discoveries only raise more questions, forcing mankind to reconsider what it means to be human.
In this reflective, provocative post-apocalyptic novel, John, Kendra, and the remnants of humanity must find the strength to love and the will to forgive - or they will all perish.

In Lamentation, the first entry in the Psalm of Isaak series, an ancient weapon has completely destroyed the city of Windwir. From many miles away, Rudolfo, Lord of the Nine Forest Houses, sees the horrifying column of smoke rising. He knows that war is coming to the Named Lands. Nearer to the Devastation, a young apprentice is the only survivor of the city—he sat waiting for his father outside the walls, and was transformed as he watched everyone he knew die in an instant. Unique, well performed, but what happened.
Think an adult Lord of the Flies with aliens and religion. Slow start. Many many conversations. Philosophy infused along with religion. It definitely prods the intellectual side of your beliefs. Wonder what Chris's are after listening to this. Lane is excellent. Ending did not like since it left me wanting more but unsure if there is more story coming. I don't think so. I like my stories to have a more confident ending. I can see how an agnostic or even an atheist may enjoy the story more but the truth is And ,what was missing, was that the Truth already came to Earth so I had to keep reminding me that this is fiction. I think the story could have moved along faster the first 25% but still see the need to really vet out the characters and all their conflicting options. If you like some philosophy, cultural studies and religion conundrums then you will like. There is some good action and fun banter along with a well crafted mystery but without a good conclusion.
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
