Interesting story, good performance

What did you love best about Star Trek: The Return (Adapted)?

The storyline has a few holes, but overall- a good story that I wish they made into a movie when it was still possible (actors' ages, missing the late L. Nimoy).

What about William Shatner’s performance did you like?

Shatner is a great and passionate performer, although all characters sounded much like Kirk, unavoidably.

No green blooded hob goblin

Pure Trek storyline. Kirk triumphs again. Worthy of a sequel. Bring it Bill Shatner.

great book!

another great Star Trek story, and this time narrated by William shatner Captain James t Kirk himself! I really enjoyed this story, it was nice to hear Captain Kirk in another Star Trek adventure. that was never shown on television or in the movies. well worth the listen!

A fantastic listen

This book kept me interested into the very end. I am not a person who picks apart a book on its technical details but by the pure enjoyment of the read. I am sure there are parts which are not up to the other Star Trek writes, but I still enjoyed it considerably. Having it narrated by William Shatner was a bonus and added to the books quality. I will be listening too all the books in this series.

A'ight

I really wish it wasn't abridged. And the background music is a little annoying at times.

A Great Ride

I have to begin by saying that I am not a connoisseur of Star Trek novels (this is my first). I've enjoyed the shows and movies, but haven't looked for deep philosophy or meaning far beneath the surface...interesting characters, fun stories, some exicting missions, a compelling view of the human condition...that's what Star Trek is to me. With that proviso I have to say that this audiobook was GREAT! Indeed there was NO character development, dots from previous Star Trek stories were connected and, yes, Shatner sounded a little silly as Data. But it was a great ride! There was suspense, excitement, surprise...all the right emotional notes were hit, and Shatner's performance of the abridged story was just perfect. No one else could have been as convincing as he was. Yes, it highlighted the invincibility of James T. Kirk, but isn't that part of what we love about Star Trek, the larger-than-life aspects of so many of the characters? "The Return" hits all the right notes without being unduly pretentious or compromising anything that makes Star Trek so enjoyable and fun. The production is impecible and the length is just right so your commute can be a little less boring for a day or two. Beam aboard for the ride and you won't be sorry!

Hero Story about Kirk By Kirk

This book was fun to read so long as you can separate it from true Trek. As a long time fan it reads as if Shaner has not invested the time in getting to know what motivates any other then character other than Kirk. Each character in the book is written as a subordinate of the legendary Shatter Kirk and behaves in a very unfamiliar gun ho way from what I’ve come to know and love about each of the characters. They are quick to act and don’t use their minds to win the situations they are in. I really hope this novel is not canon. It would be devastating for the Star Trek timeline if it were.

Great Addition to the Series

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this. The voice acting was stellar, obviously (Shater). It was well written as evidenced by how easily digestible the story was. So smooth and seamless was it, that even a non-Trekkie could follow along and not get lost.

Aspiring writers will definitely want to go over this one a few times.

Great story and Performance.

I found this short book to be very involving and the performance by William Shatner a treat.
The story evolves with good momentum and Intrigue, than ends with a satisfying conclusion.
