Interesting story, good performance

What did you love best about Star Trek: The Return (Adapted)?

The storyline has a few holes, but overall- a good story that I wish they made into a movie when it was still possible (actors' ages, missing the late L. Nimoy).

What about William Shatner’s performance did you like?

Shatner is a great and passionate performer, although all characters sounded much like Kirk, unavoidably.

No green blooded hob goblin

Pure Trek storyline. Kirk triumphs again. Worthy of a sequel. Bring it Bill Shatner.

great book!

another great Star Trek story, and this time narrated by William shatner Captain James t Kirk himself! I really enjoyed this story, it was nice to hear Captain Kirk in another Star Trek adventure. that was never shown on television or in the movies. well worth the listen!

Decent book, not thrilled by the shortness

Although i loved the book and the fact that Shatner himself reads it, i was not impressed to learn that the audio version is so short and actually cuts out a significant amount of material. specifically; at least one character who is in the actual book is conspicuously absent from the audio version, Mccoy.

near-perfect capture of characters !

Shatner must have studied hours of tapes; he duplicated the vocal cadence of each Trek character brilliantly! the only fault I find with the novel is that the authors missed a golden opportunity for a juicy, heart-to-heart moment between Spock & his long-lost t'hy'la. (students of Vulcan will know what I mean)

I loved it. William Shatner did a great job

I finally figured out the joke on Lower Decks when the daughter was saying (since ore) because that is exactly how William says sensor.

a good read despite being an adept of the original

absolutely loved it, William shatner's performance at times is a bit droning but still enjoyable I feel this audiobook would have done better with a cast of voice actors, the story is original and well thought out and just a fun ride! I remember reading this book originally years ago always liked it one of my favorites happy to have it on audible now, it does suffer an adapted much of the story is missing you lose something in the listening this way

Shatner should stick to acting.

It’s not horrible but Shatner doing different voices is kinda irritating. Makes Julian Bashir sound like a bumbling idiot. Pronounces Cardassian as if they were the Kardashian’s. And don’t even get me going on the variations of tachyons. Story was mediocre and is lacking substance and backstory. The whole story felt rushed.

It's Shatner

The book is good; however, Mr. Shatner's pacing of the book is hurried to me. In an attempted to be suspenseful, he rushes much of the detail. Special effects are used to change his voice some in the book for secondary characters, but it can be difficult to tell a difference between main characters. Overall, I've always enjoyed this book, but it might have been better in audio if read by someone with better vocal skills and pacing.
