I'm the guy you come to when your spouse gets bitten by a werewolf, or your honey is kidnapped by a demon. I'm the guy who knows how to save you from an evil curse or angry vampire. At least, I was that guy until the Society of Shadows sent me to Dearmont, Maine, a sleepy town that had a zero rating on the supernatural occurrences scale. But when a woman hires me to find out if her son has been possessed by a demon at a rich kids' party, Dearmont goes from zero to hero.

Nate Temple's all-consuming quest to avenge his parents is temporarily put on hold when shape-shifting dragons invade St. Louis. And perhaps cow-tipping the Minotaur for answers might not have been Nate's smartest opening move, because now every flavor of supernatural thug from our childhood nightmares is gunning for him. Nate learns that the only way to save his city from these creatures is to murder his best friend.
Let's go back to the night I turned 13, the night Grandpa filleted my finger with his cane sword. I can't say what terrified me more, the cold anger in his eyes or the crazy things in his locked study. A talking trunk. Squirming coats. A bookshelf whose titles shifted before my eyes. And one chilling title in particular: Book of Souls. Ten years later I'm on my way to a Romanian monastery, in search of that lost book. But I'm not the only one. Three others have beaten me to the local village: two researchers and...
My name is Roy Morgan, and I'm not your average Atlanta cop. For one, most of them don't have to kill people to stay alive. I do. It's a half-demon thing. Yep, that's right, half-demon. It's awesome, especially since I'm half-warlock too, and those two sides don't much get along. Still, that and a buck will get you a candy bar. So it's all good. Or at least it was. See, I had this dumb idea to stop a robbery in progress and have myself a snack. Turns out these weren't your run of the mill robbers. No, these were demonic slavers.
There are reasons we fear the dark. Bill Ryder...isn't one of them. Gamer, geek, and legendary vampire - The Tome of Bill is the tale of an unlikely hero trying to survive in a world of undead horrors. Despite awesome supernatural powers, loyal allies, and an attitude the size of Brooklyn, the odds are still stacked heavily against him. Bill Ryder must fulfill his destiny and save the world from the ancient terrors that threaten it - all while trying to work up the nerve to ask out the girl of his dreams.
How do you keep the people you care about safe from enemies you can’t remember? Ten years ago, Nate Garrett awoke on a cold warehouse floor with no memory of his past and the only clues to his identity were a piece of paper with his name on it and a propensity toward magic. Now he’s a powerful sorcerer and a successful thief for hire, but it turns out that those who stole his memories aren’t done with him yet. When they cause a job to go bad, threatening a sixteen-year-old girl, Nate swears to protect her.
After the loss of his girlfriend Jesse, druid-trained hunter Colin McCool swore off monster-hunting for good. Now a rogue vampire is killing the weak and defenseless in his city, and no one else seems to care enough to stop him. To end the slaughter, Colin has agreed to take up his sword one last time...but will this "one final job" be the death of him?
In the fourth installment of The Black Knight Chronicles, Jimmy Black is having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day and a darned fine pity party, serving the finest alcohol, when a call from his not-quite-girlfriend-cop forces him to sober up and stare at jawbones.
"Cold case" takes on a whole new meaning when vampire detectives risk life and limbs (literally) to connect a series of decades-old kidnappings in Charlotte with current missing persons cases. All clues lead through the veil of Faerieland to the legendary Goblin's Market, a magical bazaar where anything is available - for a price.
The boys can barely stay out of trouble in Charlotte. As fresh meat at The Market, they'll be lucky to survive the day.

Where does Paint it Black rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Within the books of the "Black Knight Chronicles" themselves, last. Paint it Black is still a pretty good book, but the first and third books are better by a mile because Hard Day's Knight is world building and the Knight Moves introduced Abbey, who's a great character and shakes up the dynamic of the first 2 books in a good way (at least she does in Knight Moves, not so much in Paint It Black).
What did you like best about this story?
The Goblin Market reminded me of the Bazaar on Deeva in Myth Adventures
What does Nick J. Russo bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Mr. Russo is a good reader. He is easy and fun to listen to. I think if I read the stories for myself now, after listening to him for 4 books, I would probably still hear his voice in my head for most of the characters, especially for Jimmy.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did listen to it all in one day- the same day I got it. I do that a lot though, because I often listen to audio books at work on days when I am not interacting with clients. Did I want to? Yes. I wanted to see how Jimmy and crew would get out of the trouble they always find themselves in.

There were some things I really didn't like in this book. The Goblin Bazaar was very unpleasant. The killer was also very unpleasant. Maybe too unpleasant for my everyday reading, and since I was listening to this at work, I was very glad I was using headphones at least twice during the story. I also didn't like the direction of some of the character development, though that might turn into something interesting in later, I will have to see. I have listened to the first 3 books in the series multiple times. I doubt I will listen to this book again, and if so, not for a long time. I will be getting the fifth book in the series soon. I am hoping that it will return to the form of the previous books and that the series will not continue in this darker tone going forward.

I enjoyed this book but it to me the weakest of the five in the series.
