My blood kills cancer. But it does a lot more than that. It makes me a living, walking target to those who want to make me their blood bank and cash cow. So now I'm in hiding until my plans for revenge can come to fruition. But as you'll see, don't trust everyone these days, even those you thought were there to help.
In the first episode of this serial our teenage hero found his blood cured cancer, and was understandably elated. But reality quickly asserted itself, and much to his horror he found he was more valuable as a commodity than a person.
And now, in hiding, our hero must determine who his friends and enemies really are.
The first installment got off to a good start and set a quick pace for the sake of it's action. Here the pace momentarily slows so attention can be paid to a longer plot and the development of what hints at conspiracy. As before, the narrator is wonderfully suited to the intelligent sarcastic character, and the writer finds a good balance between the character's mindset, realism, and the required elements of a solid YA fiction story.
