Story
As if nearly burning up in a freak accident on her way to Earth wasn't bad enough, Daisy had a whole mess of other trouble on her plate. Big trouble. And she was going to get to the bottom of it if it was the last thing she'd do, which it was starting to look like it very well might be. The thing is, Daisy had a simple rule for space travel. Don't blow up, and so far she'd been managing to abide by that, but mere survival wasn't enough.

For the first time, he thinks he has a shot at a better life. But survival is not guaranteed. Leading an elite team of mech operators, he is deployed to a frozen planet called Ferrous where dangerous relics of a past war lurk beneath the ice and savage creatures prowl the barren wastelands. When he’s told his gaming scores are good enough to qualify him for a brand-new training program designed to find recruits talented enough to pilot humanity’s first mechs, he can hardly believe it. There are hundreds of other recruits competing for the same eight jobs, and they’re all as skilled as he is. But Jake refuses to give up, because humanity is facing its greatest threat yet. If someone doesn’t step up, it could all be over for the human species. Contains the complete series.

Publisher's summary
New World Disorder, Book 1:
Once upon a time, the Earth had protectors. Seal Team 6...Delta Force...Paw Patrol. They’re all gone now, vaporized during an alien invasion that has only recently ended. What’s left behind is a small group of survivors led by a former scavenger named Danny Deus, who’ve been selected to compete for a spot as operators in the Mech Command, a global mechanized fighting force dedicated to defending the Earth, kicking the crap out of wannabe alien invaders, and looping back through time every now and again.
What most would consider a lifetime’s worth of work - battling extraterrestrial bad guys and saving the universe - Danny and the operators call a busy Tuesday.
World of Hurt, Book 2:
Danny came, he competed, and he conquered. Now a member of the Icarus Project's elite mech operations team, Danny is tossed out of the frying pan and into the fire.
Not only does he battle bands of rogue aliens and ginormous extraterrestrial fighting mechs in the desert and out on the ice, but he also uncovers evidence that forces him to question everything he thought he knew about the man who brought him into the shadowy Icarus Project, former billionaire technologist Jonas Xavier Vidmark.
Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, Danny also finds himself snared in a love triangle, while discovering that another alien invasion is likely just around the corner.
Includes a special bonus note from the author.

He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Little do they know that colony will become permanent–and the last stand of the human race. Because, without warning, every single person left on Earth simply...vanishes. Pretty good!
Narrator gets a smidge on my nerves, but the idea is well executed in typical SF invasion style: imminent alien threat, kid with special abilities who doesn’t think much of himself. 8/10 better than most.

the writing is just bad. the characters start out so obnoxious i cant stomach it, and the narrator sounds like some stoned dumbass doing a drunk dean martin impression which just makes it all even worse. just run while you can and pass this by.
