Publisher's Summary

Taylor Anderson continues his powerful New York Times best-selling series of alternate history and military strategy, as the conflict is about to become terrifyingly personal....

Captain Matt Reddy and the crew of the USS Walker have been fighting for their lives ever since their ship was swept from the Pacific to another world and they became embroiled in a deadly conflict between their Lemurian allies and the ravening Grik. But things are about to get worse. With Reddy's family and allies held prisoner by the mad General Kurokawa, the mysterious League and evil Dominion plotting schemes of their own, and the Grik trying to build their swarm and concentrate power, Reddy faces danger on all sides. Although desperate to confront Kurokawa, Captain Reddy fears he's subordinating the war effort for personal reasons. But Kurokawa is too dangerous to be left alone. With the mighty League battleship Savoie at his command, he plots a terrible vengeance against Reddy and his tiny, battered destroyer. The stage is set for a devastating cataclysm, and Reddy and his allies will have to risk everything to protect what they hold dear.

"a great continuation of a wonderful series"
Where does Devil’s Due rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is the latest book so far in the Destroyermen series. The series follows the crew of two US Navy ships in WWII somehow transported to an alternate earth, where the dinosaurs never died out, various intelligent species exist, and several groups of humans from other alternate earths have been transported in ways similar to the US Navy Destroyermen. the world building is outstanding and the books are all most difficult to put down.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Devil’s Due?

the elimination of one of the major antagonists.

What about William Dufris’s performance did you like?

I enjoy his use of different voices for the many characters. his reading is done well and makes these novels most desirable additions to the Audible library.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No books I read or listen to create extreme emotion, but I had difficulty putting this, as well as the other books in this series down. they are exciting and suspenseful.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The wisdom of Dennis Silva appearing always when he needs it typically when it's unexpected in this book was my favorite character. The nice thing about Taylor Anderson is that he surprises the reader from book to book in character importance.

What does William Dufris bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The way he plays each character with his voice differences is what makes the Audible series so good. I might not have never read this book or the series and missed the experiences without Audible.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

It seems like a movie version would leave the riches of the book series on the cutting room floor. The books each at 16 plus hours contain so many adventures. I would hate to see a disaster like Tom Cruise playing, a six foot five 230 pound, Jack Reacher. Casting and costumes and make up would be just so difficult.

    Any additional comments?

As always, when I finish listening to a Destroyer men book, I immediately start looking for the next one. Waiting a year or more is tough. The various war fronts visited separately make the books work. If multiple major battles were taking place at each front it is hard to imagine our hero's prevailing considering the resources needed and the size of the fleets required.

Slow start but the last 5 hrs were intense. Wrapped up some things that was satisfying but left me ready for the next one.

    "World War. alt"

I have slavishly followed the 'Destroyermen' series since "Into the Storm", some 9 years ago. At that time my only criticism was Mr. Dufris' lack of familiarization with the proper pronouncing of standard naval and military terms. Now that is no longer a problem, it has allowed his vocal acrobatics to deftly allow the listeners to have no doubt as to which of the many human and human characters are speaking. Mr. Dufris has given each of the many primary characters their own distinct and appropriate voice, making it ever so seamless to follow the storyline.

In this latest installment of 'Destroyermen' the war has gone truly global as we are exposed to new threats as old ones are conquered. And as old heroes die, new ones are born. Mr. Anderson keeps the plot fresh while maintaining the mystery and suspense of what is yet to come. The "Destroyermen' series has kept a large fan base by keeping his readers entertained. "Devil's Due" does not disappoint!

    "Same book different day!"

This whole series after book 1 or 2 has is the same ole story with different scenarios.
No new weapons, boats or people. With the premise of this series, you'd think they would find some more advanced science or weapons to help them out along the way. But nothing new, just killing and more killing. author needs to freshen the story line up if I'm going to continue the series.
Really need to find new weapons from a future time to get the story kicking. at this point it's just boring.
The only saving grace is William Dude is whose narrasian is spot on as always. He's always a pleasure to listen to.

    "When will it end"

Another lengthy chapter in the Destroyerman saga. It is time for it to conclude. While performed well by William Dufris, the story is becoming more and more repetitive. It would be nice to see a conclusion on the horizon, but this book ends with more of the same ahead

    "SUCH a great series!"
Would you listen to Devil’s Due again? Why?

I would (in order in the series of course). Sentient velociraptors (ish) and lemurs. WWII Destroyer. If that alone does not suck you in, well maybe you are not a geek. The writing is excellent-full of rich imagery and heart-warming characters. Epic battles and plenty of humor to soften the grisly reality the characters have found themselves in.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I think Tabby. I just want to hug her. She is spunky and has a big heart.

Have you listened to any of William Dufris’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but he is an excellent narrator. Not so good with his Phillippino accent (many people I work with are from the Phillippines) but he does many accents, dialects and characters consistently and very well throughout the series.

    Any additional comments?

Read it!! You will love it! Start with Book 1, though. ;)
