I love this series!

What did you love best about Bound?

Great characters, fun and interesting stories. Fabulous narrator! Benedict Jacka cannot write them fast enough.

Excellent story, shame about the voices!

This, as the previous books is an excellent story. It leaves us desperate fir the next instalment. However, at one point I had to check that it was the same narrator- mostly it sounded like him, but certain characters now had very different voices and I'm not sure I understand why. Did the producer change, did no one listen to previous recordings to check?
BUT, I would still recommend the series and this book, just hoping that it's back on track next time. It's disconcerting when every time Arachne spoke I expected her to say "Now is the winter of our discontent ........" in that voice.

fabulous new installment with a few irritations

As usual I was on the edge of my seat with Alex's latest tale. Gildart Jackson has been a stellar narrator but I've a few niggles - bad enough to change Helicowan's accent in a previous book (both he and Landis originally sounded like Sean Connery) but he was a minor character. why did Morden's have to change though? Something also up with Arachne's voice. It's become more sinister and slightly lower and also more mechanical rather than her usual clipped enunciation. I know it sounds minor but Gildart's made these people alive to me! it's disconcerting.

Good baddies & bad goodies

Jacka must be doing something right as with each new book I vow to take my time and read/listen slowly but then I always end up doing a weekend binge!

Plus points: Morden has a bigger role; time is passing and everyone's allowed to be a bit more grownup; darker (altho there is a moment at the end that is pure Scooby Doo); Good and Bad are blending to grey.
Meh points: Arachne's voice has developed a harsh Chinese accent; Rachel is still an undeveloped character; must there always be pages and pages of a big gun battle? Yawn.

Disappointing

Listened to another Alex Verus novel previously and was looking forward to this one. It could have been a short story lasting 2-3 hours as most of it recapped and retold episodes of past events that Verus and friends had been through. This meant listening to lots of dialogue that wasn't adding to the story but rather distracting the reader from any enjoyment. Excitement and action only came in the closing chapters so if listening, it may be advisable to skip the majority on fast forward. Narrator also sadly let down the characters by limited voices and little changes between them but hey ho I didn't give a fig for any of them anyway - sorry.

Another episode in a good series.

It was good but this felt like an average episode in a good series. It didn't feel like enough of a complete story to me. I want more. The characters all moved on but it feels like they have been positioned for more interesting stories to come. I hope they have - looking forward to the next instalment already.

Another good book in the Alex Verus series.

It took me a while to get used to the narrator's style. This is the first one of this series I've had as audio book. I am pleased I persevered as I enjoyed it.
Good character interaction and development. a story that keeps you hooked and isn't too predictable.

great book

I really like everything about this audiobook. I've listened to all the previous books, and this one was just as catching. Narrator's voice and habbot of speaking transmitted the mood and situation very well.
