Publisher's summary

Sapphire is one of four sisters named after the gems in daggers bought by their late mother in regards to a superstition. She has been betrothed to Lord Roe Sexton, a man she's never met. But when she goes to Rye to meet him, she's told he's dead, and she's married off to the evil baron instead. So she sneaks out in disguise not only to get away from her abusive husband, but to find the meaning of true love, stopping at a nearby pub in the process.

Lord Roe Sexton returns from war overseas after being away for over a year. Victorious and celebrating their success, he stops with the soldiers at a pub looking for a drink and a woman for the night. The one he chooses seems to be trying to tell him she's a lady, but he doesn't believe her since she's dressed like a whore.

A mistaken identity turns into a night of passion that neither of them will ever forget. But when Roe returns to his castle the next day to find his lover there and also married, things get very complicated. And when he exposes a ring of smugglers, Sapphire's life is endangered and one wrong move could bring about disastrous results for both of them.

Can a woman who was thrown into an abusive marriage with a man she despises, find love and passion with the man she was truly meant to marry, or will greed and deceit keep them apart? Emotions as well as intrigue are taken to the limit in the second book of the Daughters of the Dagger Series - Sapphire.

Narrator weird

The narrator uses weird ways to differentiate characters. Some sound like Boris Karlof and some sound falling down drunk slurry. Personally, he irritates me. The story line is predictable but passes the time and is entertaining enough I want to listen to the series, but Audible doesn't have Amethyst's story. Hopefully they'll have it soon, or it will ruin the series for me.

Another gem!

With the exception of the feeling that someone must have just said *poof* - 'love', this was another good book from one of my favorite writer/narrator teams. Medieval romance with headstrong women and handsome protective hunks, some real chemistry, and... well.... *poof* good book!

Sapphire

Sapphire is an exciting story filled with adventure, mystery, betrayal, and suspense. Sapphire, our feisty, outspoken heroine, and Roe, the handsome, brooding hero belong together. In fact, they were betrothed. His failure to communicate with his family while he was away serving the king resulted in the belief that he had died and she was given to a cruel baron for the sake of an alliance. In addition to this problem, he discovers that smugglers are stealing wool from his port. Stopping the smugglers, true love and a happily ever after might lie just beyond the baron’s secrets. I enjoyed Stan Chandler’s narration. His characterizations draw the listener into the story.

True romance. I loved it.

Any additional comments?

Although Sapphire is book two of a series, this exciting story can stand on its own. With complex characters, well developed backstory, Ms. Rose truly captures her readers. Sapphire is such an outspoken and fun heroine. A tall, sexy, brooding stranger may just give Sapphire her happily ever after. But not before the reader is pulled into a plot of betrayal, intrigue, suspense and suspicion. A romance readers delight.
I loved this story. A must read. I listened to the audiobook version and truly enjoyed Stan Chandler's performance.

I had a hard time listening to the narrator

Narrators voice for Sapphire was rediculous. She did not sound like a Lady of means.

True love comes first

Book 2 of the series of Daughters Of The Dagger. This is a lovely story in book two where Sapphire the 2nd born has been betrothed to a mean man for alliance.
This amazing author brings deception , war fights and eventually true love.
I believe so far this book is my favorite.. on to book 3

Exciting read!

Any additional comments?

Sapphire was betrothed to a man who they assumed to be dead before they could be married. She was married to a cruel Baron who abused her. She had always dreamed of a husband she could love and enjoy the kind of marriage her sister Ruby had.
Her mother had bought daggers with stones in them from an old hag to ensure that her daughters would find love. She named her daughters after the stones. Her father found the daggers and got rid of them because he thought they were cursed.
Sapphire went to an Inn dressed as a commoner and she was saved from some ruffians by a Knight. The Knight thought she was a whore and took her to his bed. Then the tangled web begins to be more tangled when the next day they discovered the knight was Sapphire's thought to be dead betrothed. Don't miss this fantastic story! I could not quit listening until the last word was read.
