In Touched by Love...

Fiercely independent Janie Jansen has always believed there were worse things in life than being blind, and she's spent her life proving it. She's moved away from her overprotective parents and built a life in New York City and is one of the top technical editors in her company. That is until an unfortunate accident turns her life upside down and she's forced to give up the very independence she's worked so hard to achieve.

Firefighter Boyd Hudson pushed past his tragic past and is weeks away from accomplishing his ultimate dream - being accepted into medical school. His intense focus on his goal while working three jobs has taken its toll. With a trail of failed relationships behind him, Boyd is painstakingly aware of his limitations and avoids girlfriends completely - a difficult task given his attraction to one of his coworkers.

When Boyd comes to Janie's rescue, she's forced to accept his help, and Janie discovers there's more to the sexy-sounding office flirt than one-liners. Their connection deepens as Janie heals, but it turns out that Janie isn't the only one who needs healing. Boyd's painful past comes back to haunt him, threatening their relationship and forcing Boyd to reevaluate everything he knows about himself.

10 stars!

Boyd is my new favorite Love in Bloom hero! Janie and Boyd both have obstacles to overcome in their life, but only Janie's is visible whereas Boyd's are inside. Janie is blind and fiercely independent, when her independence is derailed by a fall Boyd is there is help Janie see she can rely upon others. In helping Janie, She is able to help Boyd deal with the childhood trauma still haunting him. Janie and Boyd prove that love is about the whole person, inside and out - Boyd learns how to read Janie without being able to use her eyes and Janie learns how to help Boyd work through his internal trauma. Janie's best friend Kiki will show you the fierce love of a friendship that is truly sister of the heart. Your heart will melt when Janie "sees" Boyd for the first time and they become each other's heroes. This is my favorite Melissa Foster yet!

Listening to Mr Harrison really felt like I was able to connect more with Janie but also maybe gave a little insight into Boyd as well - I found myself closing my eyes more and trying to see the told through Janie’s lense when I was able to “just” listen to the novel. Bravo!

good book

This was a fast moving feel good type of love story for both Janie and Boyd. Both came into their relationship with a boat load of issues - Janie not wanting her blindness to impede her abilities and Boyd's issues with his tragic past to get in the way of his dreams of his love for Janie. Their fast moving, well written tale made it feel like it took place in the blink of an eye but the timeline worked for them. The pair had their struggles but it was nice to see a different type of heroine that what one 'normally' sees in books. The narration in this book was well performed as Mr. Harrison portrayed the characters enthusiastically, making the story move along well and with his differentiation of the characters making them easy to determine from one another. I enjoyed this book from start to finish and would recommend it to others.

Loved it

If you could sum up Touched by Love in three words, what would they be?

Determined, passionate and independent

What other book might you compare Touched by Love to, and why?

Slope of love! Because it has another determined strong woman who doesn’t think she needs help, but finds it’s ok to lean on someone.

Which character – as performed by B.J. Harrison – was your favourite?

They are all good.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

We all need someone to lean on occasionally

Any additional comments?

Another great book from Melissa. Great that Janie is a strong independent woman and not made out to be a victim of her blindness.
