Publisher's summary

This holiday season, join two of today’s most popular paranormal authors for a special look into their worlds, where creatures are always stirring and no one sleeps through the night.... The Bite Before Christmas

The Gift by Lynsay Sands: Teddy Brunswick knows about the immortals among us. He’s worked with them, called them friend - but he never counted on being snowed in with one over Christmas. Katricia Argeneau is a tasty little bundle and she seems to feel the same way about him. Problem is, he’s not sure she feels quite the same way. After all, the snowstorm has derailed her blood delivery, which leaves him the only available meal on the menu....

Home for the Holidays by Jeaniene Frost: Cat and Bones are looking forward to a normal holiday - at least as “normal” as it gets for the combustible vampire couple and their otherworldly friends and family. But their yuletide plans are shattered when a stranger shows up and reveals long-buried family secrets that threaten to take a bite out of their holiday cheer... and lives.

Another great story from Jeaneine!

Jeaniene once again did not dissapoint. Although I wasn't really interested in listening to the other story at first, I got hooked in to that one to, good job Lynsay Sands!
The only complaint I had was the extreme difficulty getting to a place you left off when you had to stop listening and start again. Maybe it was just me?

Take a Bite...

Any additional comments?

The first story by Sands isn't all that great (boring) and it's a little over 3hrs long the second story by Frost was what I really wanted and as an addicted huntress fan it was well worth the 10.00 I paid for it. (You'll need to look at it that way)

Jeaniene Frost half

What did you love best about The Bite Before Christmas?

More of the Ian character. Get a chance to see how much he is truly Bones friend.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The demon who helped Cat and Ian. He was evil and self serving. Totally for him self. Love him.

What does Paula Christensen and Tavia Gilbert bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Tavia Gilbert brings a voice to go a long with the character. It's different from the voice in your head trying to give everyone different voices.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes. When Bones confronted Annette about his past.

Any additional comments?

As always - I want more of Jeaniene Frost Night Huntress series

Part of it was great

I couldn't stand the narration on the Lynsey Sands short story so I went straight to Jeaniene Frost's. Loved it. It was a good stand alone while still adding to the overall storyline of the series. And it was perfect tying Bones and Ian together as family. Very fitting. The low rating was solely because of the narration of the first story. I couldn't listen to it to see if the storyline was well written.

Bah Humbug

I'm not a fan of haveing two authors in one book. I really didn't think that Sands did her usual job. Too short, and a bit lack luster.

Two stories about vampires and Christmas

The first story by Lindsay Sands was very good, but the narrator ruined it for me because of her male voice for Teddy. She did everything else very well, but I was aggravated every time she voiced Teddy. Terrible!!
The second story by Jeaniene Frost was very good also. It was about Cat and Bones from Frost's series that begins with Half Way to the Grave. I absolutely adore that series. It was narrated by the talented Tavia Gilbert. who narrates the entire series. She consistently delivers a fantastic performance.

Good for fans of the series

If you haven't read the Argeneau series or the Night Huntress series, I recommend reading those first before listening to this book. You wouldn't be able to appreciate the stories as much and get spoilers.

Lynsay Sands
The nice understanding town sheriff Teddy who has appeared in the past several Argeneau books gets his own romance in this one. It was short and sweet. I suppose I could complaint it was too short and too sweet and could have had more about him adjusting to becoming a vampire. Despite that I have to say, it is a nice addition to the series.

Jeaniene Frost
The Kat and Bones novella is about an appearance of a surprising visit from a long lost blood relation. The last reveal is a bit too convenient but it's a great addition to Frost sensei's Nighthuntress series. To be honest Ian has been least favorite character in this series, but with this story I have to say I saw him in a better light!

Great short stories!

While I originally purchased this book for Jeaniene Frost's story, I found that I really enjoyed Lynsay Sands' story as well. I've been a huge fan of Cat and Bones since the very beginning and was delighted to find that Tavia Gilbert was narrating this short story. She has done such an amazing job on the other Night Huntress books. I would recommend this book to everyone, they won't be disappointed.
