Publisher's summary

The most highly-anticipated novel in the Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series since Acheron is here—the unforgettable story of Styxx, Acheron's twin brother and one of the most powerful beings on earth

Just when you thought doomsday was over . . .

Centuries ago Acheron saved the human race by imprisoning an ancient evil bent on absolute destruction. Now that evil has been unleashed and it is out for revenge.

As the twin to Acheron, Styxx hasn't always been on his brother's side. They've spent more centuries going at each other's throats than protecting their backs. Now Styxx has a chance to prove his loyalty to his brother, but only if he's willing to trade his life and future for Acheron's.

The Atlantean goddess of Wrath and Misery, Bethany was born to right wrongs. But it was never a task she relished. Until now.

She owes Acheron a debt that she vows to repay, no matter what it takes. He will join their fellow gods in hell and nothing is going to stop her. But things are never what they seem, and Acheron is no longer the last of his line. Styxx and Acheron must put aside their past and learn to trust each other or more will suffer.

Yet it's hard to risk your own life for someone who once tried to take yours, even when it's your own twin, and when loyalties are skewed and no one can be trusted, not even yourself, how do you find a way back from the darkness that wants to consume the entire world? One that wants to start by devouring your very soul?

Love it

I love this book. Acheron and Styxx were the two first books I read in the Dark-Hunter series. I know, way out of order. But still. I’m happy that they both finally got their happily ever after.

A gods love/hate/persecute a human tale.

Would you consider the audio edition of Styxx to be better than the print version?

I have not read the print version.

What does Fred Berman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Fred Berman brings an extremely volitile attitude, others may not have envisioned, without his help. The attitude will tap into deeply emotional support for the underdog. Without his help, many readers might give up the story before reaching the ending.

The story taps deep compassion of the reader, and even strengthens a solid moral compass.

Any additional comments?

This story is captivating and I listened to it for two to three hours at a time. I hated to stop, and anxiously took every opportunity available, to return to the story. Styxx is a man who was cursed, and suffered, at the pleasure of the gods. This lengthy mythological story, is told as a continuous mini-series. I loved it.

Sherrilyn has done it again! Fred Berman too!

Other reviews advised listeners to stick with it, but I never fell out of interest. Sherrilyn Kenyon has created such an amazing group of characters and how she has intertwined their lives is pure genius. Fred Berman is a true artist and makes these characters come alive. This, like all the other books in this series, can be read/listened to on its own, but it's so much for fulfilling to have read/listened to all books leading up to this one. I'm such a fan of this series, I've become attached to the characters. I don't want it to end!

I couldn't listen to this at work!

I was sobbing so much I couldn't listen to this at work because, my coworkers were constantly asking me what was wrong! I thought Styxx torture would never end! And then with the way Acheron was treating him just tore me apart!

Made me Love Styxx

This story is outstanding but the only section I've listener to over and over and over is the last 6 hours. The reader does an excellent job! One learns more about Urian and Stixx as well as more about Acheron (who frankly come off a little mean spirited).

Fantastic!

I absolutely loved this book. I thought Acheron’s story was brutal, amazing, and heartbreaking. I also thought Styxx was a $#*! in Acheron’s story. I should have know there was a reason, an explanation, or rather misconception, as most all characters in this series. I’m glad Fred Berman read this one because he says Urian’s name right (yes he’s in here too) unlike Holter Graham who says it ORian. I like Holter’s narrating it’s just that he says some names differently than Fred and I somehow think Fred is one who says them correctly. Anyway, Styxx’s Story is just as heartbreaking (possibly more, if that could be possible) than Acheron’s story. Mostly because it goes on much longer. Sorry if that is a spoiler for anyone. I enjoyed this book so much I wish it could have been 50 hrs long regather than 31, LOL! Looking forward to Stygain next. Yea, I jumped around in the “order” in which they should be listened to a little bit, LOL!
