Publisher's summary

I pay strangers to sleep with me. I have my reasons....But they're not the ones you'd expect. For starters, I'm a funeral director taking over my dad's business. Not exactly the kind of person you'd expect to fork over cash for the lust and urgency only live skin-to-skin contact can create. Looking at me, you wouldn't have a clue I carry this little secret so close it creases up like the folds of a fan. Tight. Personal. Ready to unravel in the heat of the moment. Unsurprisingly, my line of work brings me face-to-face with loss.

So I decided long ago that paying for sex would be one of the best (and arousing) ways to save myself from the one thing that would eventually cut far too deep. But Sam was a mistake. Literally. I signed on to "pick up" a stranger at a bar, but took Sam home instead. And now that I've felt his heat, his sweat and everything else, can I really go back to impersonal? Let's just hope he never finds out about my other life.

Critic reviews

"...the story of a real and complex woman caught in a difficult situation with no easy answers. Well-developed secondary characters and a compelling plot add depth to this absorbing and enticing work." ( Library Journal on Broken)

Wish I could give this a 5 but...

I love Megan Hart books and this one is excellent. I hate to give this story anything less than a 5 but the narrator made me knock it back to a 3. What a great story with excellent written characters but the narrator sounds like a little girl reading porn. A different narrator would have made this book a 5+ but Gia St. Claire made it uncomfortable. It sounded like a 12 year old girl reading an adult novel...just didn't work for me. Read the book, skip this audible version.

Another great Megan Hart romance

Megan Hart is one of my favorite romance writers. Good story line, great characters, and interesting plot twists. I wasn't sure I liked the narrator in the beginning, but I grew to really like her. It was also REALLY nice to see the Ms. Hart brought back Jack one of my favorite characters in her novels. Dan and Elle from her book 'Dirty' also make cameos. If you like romance/erotica audiobooks, this is a great choice. Also make sure to take a look at 'Broken', 'Dirty', and 'Tempted', they are amazing!!!

Good story; abrupt ending

I liked the engaging story and the well-developed characters.

Lots of passion. Hot scenes. Basic+.

My main criticism is the abrupt ending.

Not Megan Hart's best but still good...

This wasn't her best book in my mind, but it was still a pretty good book...I recommend listening to it!

Megan Hart can tell a story!

I was curious at what separates Erotica books from just plain ole Romance and I am pretty sure it's just the language. I can make a sailor blush so it doesn't bother me at all. I was surprised that the storyline was really good and engaged me right away. Quirky setting in a funeral home and man the sex scenes were hot! Going back for seconds from this author!!

Very interesting job choice

If you could sum up Stranger in three words, what would they be?

Surprises all around.

What did you like best about this story?

I like that the protagonist takes care of the dead and describes that a funeral is for the ones left behind and not the one who dies. I
I also like that the protagonist mistake help her find the love she needed.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Narrator was very good at creating a feeling about the characters.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Strangers no more.

Any additional comments?

I love Megan Hart's story. They are very erotic, but the stories are excellent. Characterizations are very unexpected, they never have ordinary lives, but love is very much a part of the stories.

Hard to Finish

I am sorry to say, this book was really hard to finish. It was so slow, and had no plot, no anti-climactic part or depth to it. Everything just felt like it was dragging on and on and on, and then the ending just sealed the deal of this entire book of why this was so hard to finish too. Ugh, I'm sorry, it's just I can't believe I actually finished it, and with that short ending too. And as for the narrator, she also made it hard for me to be invested in this book, she wasn't that bad or anything, but did make the characters sound whiny or kiddish during a normal conversation. Overall, I was bored.

Great story, a bit slow start for me but worth it!

Would you listen to Stranger again? Why?

Yes!

What did you like best about this story?

The story, character's hang ups, everything!

What about Gia St. Claire’s performance did you like?

Very good narration

Any additional comments?

Really love the complexity of the story...something that can be missing in a lot of these types of books.

slow

it took to long to get to an actual plot. I started to think there wasn't one.

Sadly disappointing :-(

I got this book because there was a buy 2 get a third for free sale….thank goodness I liked the other two! I have never read a Megan Hart book, but was told that if I liked Maya Banks and Shayla Black that I should give her a shot….*SIGH* sooooo disappointed! This book started off well enough, the plot seemed good, the sex scenes were hot, but then it all just went poof! Like someone told her not to make it over X amount of pages and so when she got close to that imaginary number she wrapped the whole book up in 20 pages…the book that had taken hundreds of pages to cultivate and engross you in the characters…that all went POOF! If you had asked me at hours 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10 I would have said this book rocks but then it all fizzled and I was left going, HUH? How had these characters, I had been so invested in, just change their core characteristics…this just makes no sense. I kept listening, hoping for some explanation on how everyone just magically changed to wrap up the book….but no, totally weird and the whole thing just left me with a bad taste in my mouth after that.
