Yes! The plot is interesting and the characters are engaging.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that Penny was intelligent, had a career, and was willing to take risks. This is not your typical heroine.

What does Ryan West bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Ryan West's voice is steady throughout the whole book. His voice gives characters depth and substance.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The scene where Chase went out of his way to get Penny to move to California. The exchange between Chase and Evan using Garrett's office. This made me chuckle.

Solstice Burn is a sexy novella by Kym Grosso. This is the story of Penny, a lawyer from New York and Chase, a biologist from California. Penny and Chase meet while she was vacationing in an adult only resort and he was on an assignment collecting specimens. Their first meeting occurs when she is snorkeling and he comes to her rescue. That one encounter was enough for Chase, and he just had to see his “mermaid” again. Penny, who is normally not the adventurous type, is now looking at life with a new outlook. But can two different people make things work, once the vacation is over?

This novella is the introduction to Kym Grosso’s new series, Club Altura Romance Series. Once again the author creates characters that draw the readers in and a plot that leaves the readers wanting more. I am looking forward to reading her new series!

The story plan was great, as all of her books. The details are very interesting that I get caught in the story plot and it takes my mind to another place.

Chase is a thrill seeker who has gone on a working vacation to hunt for new materials for his company. Southern boy at heart, he is now living in Cali working for his friend Garrett. What he does not expect is to stumble upon his greatest thrill yet.

Penny is a lawyer, logical through and through. She has been coaxed by her best friend to live a little and finds herself on this vacations testing her own limits. Her motto for this trip is basically what I do on the island, stays on the island....until....she stumbles on the one thing that will irrevocably change her life.

A little romance, a little angst, a southern boy and a whole lot of steam is what you are going to get from this novel. The author creates the characters but Ryan brings them to life. The only minor complaint that I would have is that Ryan did not quite put enough southern in Chase's tone. I love this author, love these stories and fall more in love with Ryan with each book he narrates. 5 Fangs.

Yes, Kym Grosso has put together such a fabulous story line. And Ryan West is an unbelievable narrator.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Penny, because even though she is straight-laced, she able to come out of her shell and try new things.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Penny and Chase bump into each other when they are both on the swimming tubes. I thought it was just a sweet encounter.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There were several places that the story made me laugh out loud.

Love the story and the narration!

I love listening as Ryan narrates these stories. He brings them to life in a panty dampening way!

Very Tantalizing

I love Kym Grosso's books. This one while short still left me breathless with desire to read more.

Diving into a relationship

Characters Chase and Penny meet and fall into a holiday vacation. Worst part is, they live at opposite ends of the country. During this time, Chase helps Penny come out of her shell and then he's the one left wanting more -
Ryan West did a terrific job on the narration - the worst part about this "Club Altura Romance Series" is there is no audible on book 2 :(

Pretty average

This is a insta-love story and it is definitely sexy.
The narrator, Ryan West, has a nice voice but it was definitely read to us. I am not sure how else to describe it. I could not get lost in the story although it had some really nice get-to-know-you scenes as well as the sexy stuff. Mr. West’s narrative style has pauses. I think the pauses, more than the expression, are what is distracting. Like I wrote, he has a nice voice.
As far as the plot goes, definitely insta-lust to insta-love to tiny break to insta-make-up-lust. I kinda hate it when the woman is instantly turned on by the guy’s looks, erection, voice... like we are all just waiting for some toggle switch to start our nether regions lubricating.
Suuurre.
So this is not an especially well written or even interesting story but it IS a nice diversion. The truth or dare scene, dive scene, massage (yum!) scene are all good. The ending is to far-fetched.
