Publisher's Summary

Sophie Katz's relationship with the irresistible and occasionally insufferable P.I. Anatoly Darinsky is on the fritz when a friend recruits Sophie's investigation skills to decode her possibly two-timing husband's strange behavior. When Sophie shows up in a short, red cocktail dress and her friend's hubby winds up dead, the loveable would-be sleuth can't help but take on the job.

Suddenly plunged into a crazy world of campaign mudslinging, dirt-digging, and cover-ups, Sophie begins to uncover some pretty dirty secrets indeed, involving a conservative congressional hopeful's involvement in the Furry community, a group of people who dress up in mascot-size stuffed animal costumes. Sex and politics, wouldn't you know?

Way in over her head as usual, Sophie reluctantly, or not-so-reluctantly, enlists the help of her two-time sidekick and ex, Anatoly. Together they set out to determine who killed Eugene and why, and in the process can't resist falling for each other...again?

Solve another case with Sophie.

    "Funny and entertaining!"

After listening to the previous books and getting to know the characters I was impressed of how funny this book was, not that the other books weren't but this one actually had me laughing out loud. Enjoyed the time I spent following Sophie in this adventure.

If you could sum up Obsession, Deceit, and Really Dark Chocolate in three words, what would they be?

    Clever, engaging, and fun

What did you like best about this story?

the story line was unique and fun.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I love Dena Character, she gives you a different perspective on life. When they go through the house stuff.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yup as I purchase all of the books in this series. Reader Gabra Zackman was the reason I purchased this entire series.

    Any additional comments?

Author's Sin series is HOT. This series is about humor, not a core romance, so very little hot scenes, but the hint of a romance.

    "A Major Disappointment"
What would have made Obsession, Deceit, and Really Dark Chocolate better?

Skip the narrow minded judgmental rants about people to the right of Michael Moore

Has Obsession, Deceit, and Really Dark Chocolate turned you off from other books in this genre?

No. This is one of my favorite genres. It has just turned me off to this author

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Obsession, Deceit, and Really Dark Chocolate?

    Where to begin?

    Any additional comments?

I thought this book would be my introduction to an enjoyable series in the same vein as series like Joe Grey, and Chet and Bernie. Was I ever disappointed. This is the first time I can remember listening to a book where I could not eventually come to admire at least something about the main character. She is a sarcastic, dissembling, manipulative character with an arrogant disdain for just about everyone she encounters. Her only redeeming quality seems to be that she says she never lies to her friends -- which is also a lie. The plot plods along so slowly that I had to keep reminding myself what the mystery was that she was trying to solve. The two main characters seem to be a thinly veiled rip off of Stephanie Plum and Ranger. The only difference being that I like Stephanie and find her to be funny. To make matters worse, the book is a running diatribe against Republicans, Christians, conservatives and right-to-lifers. They are all portrayed (in a very narrow minded, judgmental way I might add) as narrow minded, judgmental, mean spirited hypocrites. I wouldn't want to pay money to endure this kind of continual rant in a venue like this against Republicans or Democrats.

"This series should have an age appropriate warning"

I wish I’d never listened to this book.

This book is pure filth. Do not let your youngsters read this.

Not only is this writer once again, portraying Christians as evil hypocrites, but with this low story, she now makes the trio of dominatrix, gay friend, and idiot, look absolutely normal. I just didn’t want to read about the sexually perverted needing stuffed animals for intimate companions. Ugh, I need my mind washed out with soap!

    Don’t waste your money.

    "Kind of ridiculous"

No further growth in Sophie's character. Although there are some laughs, the premise is kind of goofy. There was some further character development of Maryann, but she's still a bit shallow.
