Publisher's summary

The hottest collection of studs in romance” (New York Times best-selling author Angela Knight) returns as J. R. Ward brings together two of the most beloved people in the Black Dagger Brotherhood world - at last...

Qhuinn, son of no one, is used to being on his own. Disavowed from his bloodline, shunned by the aristocracy, he has found an identity as a brutal fighter in the war against the Lessening Society. But his life is not complete. Even as the prospect of having a family of his own seems within reach, he is empty on the inside, his heart given to another...

Blay, after years of unrequited love, has moved on from his feelings for Qhuinn. And it’s about time: It seems Qhuinn has found his perfect match in a Chosen female, and they are going to have a young. It’s hard for Blay to see the new couple together, but building your life around a pipe dream is just a heartbreak waiting to happen. And Qhuinn needs to come to terms with some dark things before he can move forward...

Fate seems to have taken these vampire soldiers in different directions, but as the battle over the race’s throne intensifies, and new players on the scene in Caldwell create mortal danger for the Brotherhood, Qhuinn learns the true meaning of courage, and two hearts meant to be together finally become one.

At Last...The next Brotherhood installment!

Where does Lover at Last rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Out of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, this book rates as an 9. I've been waiting to read more about Quinn and Blay for a while and J.R. Ward did not disappoint. The story picks up right where the last one left off.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Lover at Last?

Finding Lucas, Quinn being inducted and not John Matthew, Quinn and Blay getting together and Layla seeing Score again. I wasn't sure I wanted all to work out with Quinn and Layla's "young". Seems like it will be trouble in the future for Quinn.

What does Jim Frangione bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He has done the whole series, so it is familiar and he produces the sexy voices I would imagine the members of the brotherhood would actually possess. However, some of the voices overlap and it can be confusing when 2 characters have the same voice.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Score's tenderness toward Layla. Quinn not "hooking up" with others, and his opening up to Blay...

Any additional comments?

As usual, new characters of interest are brought to the forefront, which makes me want to read more about them in the next book i.e. Score and Layla, Assail and Sola, Trez and the latest Chosen. This was a very entertaining book and I had a hard time putting it down. It stuck with me for a while as I pondered the events and characters of the story. I found myself labeling the young boys in my jiu jitsu calss as "pretrans".

I read the reviews and was prepared for the "butt pirates" (insert devious snicker) I loved this book with all my heart!! Those boys deserve their happy ever after and I am glad Ward did not shy away from m/m sex scenes! It was hot!

Listened to the book over and over

Where does Lover at Last rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book ranks among the best books I've listened to in four years

What did you like best about this story?

The pace, the story line, the passion and the narrator

Have you listened to any of Jim Frangione’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, he is my favorite narrator bar none. So much so, I am currently listening to a new author I found by tracking the books he has performed.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This is the first book where I was so wrapped up that I had a visceral reaction during the conflict scenes. My pulse was racing and I was bereft. Odd, but definitely notable! Between the author and the narrator...I was there!

a lot of eye rolling going on

don’t get me wrong i like quinn and blay and john but they are extremely immature and much of the book feels like repetitive teenage melodrama. they have good hearts but are very self absorbed to the point of disrespect to the other characters. i prefer the stories of the grown men (males) whose stories are tempered by centuries of highs and lows which gives them perspective and less self indulgence. hard to really care about a character that only seems to care about themself in a world that is more about the whole community surviving. thank the scribe virgin for the other storylines. she needs to bring in other adults less post trans and fringe characters such as new characters from bloodletter camp that were original to brotherhood and have come back for some reason. or more about the original brothers. quinn and blay read like Y’a

Prepare for M/M action

This is Blay & Quinn's love story. Oh, the angst they go through. Being two men mating was approved by the Blackdagger Brotherhood. We also see Leila loving someone she's not allowed to love. Great narration as always.
