Publisher's Summary

His heart’s desire. His life-long friend. Separate women…or one and the same?

Clarkson Dalton abandoned his books and poetry to join the Confederacy, determined to protect his family’s South Carolina plantation and the women who live there. Instead of garnering honor and glory, however, he missed most of the fighting as a prisoner of war.

Three years stewing in shame and humiliation would have driven him mad, except for the packet of letters he carries home tucked next to his heart. Missives from his betrothed, Kimberly, whose sweet, passionate words literally kept him alive.

Melissa Fleming has been cleaning up her mistress’s messes for almost as long as she can remember. One task, however, was no hardship during their temporary London exile—writing letters to the man Miss Kimberly discarded like a soiled bit of lace. Missy fell for the sensitive, scholarly Clarkson years ago. Though the signature on the letters was not her own, every word of love was real.

Now that the war is over, it’s time for Kimberly and Missy to return home. And Missy is about to discover there’s a mess awaiting her…and this time, cleaning it up could break her heart.

Sweet Story without a lot of depth.

"I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review." Which means I choose to listen to the 3rd book in a series without having read the earlier ones. I never felt lost, but I never felt invested in the characters, either. But I'm not sure if my feelings would have been stronger if I had. Both Missy and Clarkson had serious self-confidence issues, and I found many of the vocabulary/phrasing choices out of synch with the time period. I wasn't overly fond of the narration, either, finding it a bit "sing-song." That said, there was nothing seriously wrong with the book, and it might appeal more to more patient listeners.

What did you love best about Love Letters?

This was a cute book. I wasn't sure that I would like the narrator at first but then the voice grew on me after awhile. The story had a good amount of twists and turns, and it was a pleasant listen.

Love Letters

Love Letters
: Sandra E Sinclair

Two women one man. This is not your normal love triangle. This is a sweet clean historical fiction. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep the listener rooting for their favorite character while wanting to slap their least favorite. Will the past conflict with their futures? A very plesant listen!

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. C.J. McAllister voices this novel with plenty of emotion.
