Publisher's Summary

Owing to an unfortunate wager made by Sir Philip, the poor relations are once again scrounging around for a plan for solvency. This time it is Colonel Sandhurst to the rescue. After happening on Sir Randolph’s lovely daughter Frederica, who is running away to escape an awful marriage to Lord Bewley, the Colonel devises a plan to force Sir Randolph to settle his bill for six month’s stay and to save Frederica from her fate. The clever plan is thwarted when Lord Bewley shows up at the drop point instead of Sir Randolph. The poor relations must make a deal with Lord Bewley in order to get their money and stay out of jail, an arrangement that turns cases of mistaken identity into cases of romance.

The loveable characters from the Poor Relation Hotel return in this sparkling and adventurous Regency from Marion Chesney.

Love this series!

Such an easy listen. No brainer, fun romp. Predictable, with a bunch of laughs. I wish Masterpiece would scoop this up, and create a wonderful fun series. Each book, could be season.

I love this series. I wish there was a book 6

The characters in this are so wonderful. Every time I think the story is going to be predictable there's another twist. It's so charming and delightful

Overworked H. E. A!

A clever, humorous (but at times pitifully sad), fast paced story that successfully keeps M. C. Beaton' s series on schedule. Did anyone else get the author's "subtle" pseudonym? This carefully developed series has highlighted each character to have a book feature their dynamics in the development of a grandiose tale of British gentry caught in a life threatening position of being too low on the ladder of gentility to have inherited money to feed themselves but having inherited the name and family tree to work to feed themselves.

Davina Porter's narration is excellent!

Enjoyed the story, the basis for Beaton ' s later characters are being molded here, the roots of Agatha Raisin lie in Sir Phillip Somerville.

The twists and turns continue....

More intrigue in this 5th installment, and more matches. Ms. Tonks seems very close. Good cliffhanger as well.
Will download the last book now. Will be sad when it is over, and will have to listen to the series again once it get through more books in my library. Continues to be "pure fun"!

Colonel Sandhurst to the rescue by M. C.Beaton

Read by Davina Porter. just the correct person to narrate this book.

this is book 5 in the series and is just as full of farcical folly as the other 4.
