Publisher's summary

A childhood accident left Emmaline vulnerable to disturbing fugue states that last minutes but feel like an eternity. The blackouts are unsettling but manageable... until she meets Johnny Dellasandro.

The painter gained fame in the '70s for his debauched lifestyle and raunchy art films. His naked body achieved cult status, especially in Emm's mind - she's obsessed with the man, who's grown even sexier with age. Today he shuns the spotlight and Emm... until she falls into a fugue on his doorstep.

In that moment, she's transported back 30 years, crashing a party at Johnny's place. The night is a blur of flesh and heat that lingers long after she's woken to the present.

It happens again and again, each time-slip a mind-blowing orgy, and soon Emm can't stop, though every episode leaves her weaker. She's scared by what's happening, but she's even more terrified of losing this portal to the Johnny she wants so badly. The one who wants her and takes her - every chance he gets.

Just Wasn't That Impressed

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I had a hard time keeping up when she was having a "fuge" and real life. It really just seemed to have no emotion. I didn't like that she supposedly fell head over heels for this guy that her friend thought was cute.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Liar Liar by CK Larsen

What didn’t you like about Lily Bask’s performance?

I didn't like her voice at all. She sounded really too old and like she was a heavy smoker. I couldn't tell if it was her voice or the lack of a good story that bothered me more.

Was Collide worth the listening time?

No I would not waste my time.

Any additional comments?

I bought this after listening to Fifty Shades because the articles I have read say there are better erotic fiction books out there. Megan Hart was listed as one author but there is no comparison if this is what she writes.

Really enjoyed this book....

I love all of Megan Hart's books & Collide was no exception. I couldn't stop listening to find out what was going to happen next. Perfect mix of romance & mystery! I only wish Audible carried ALL of Megan Hart's books!!!

okay story, but very repetative

The story isn't a bad one, but it sort-of reminds me of "Ground Hog's Day" with it's repetition throughout the whole thing. It is a bit frustrating. The narration is so-so, not great, not bad. The sex scenes are delicious, but even those seem repetitious by the end.

Love this story !

This story is awesome ! I see it has some unfavorable reviews , but for me, the time travel element is something I really enjoy...especially the 70's love it ! The narration for Emily: not so much ! It just doesn't match a woman in her early thirties.... Worked great for Jonnie though .

Hart's Best So Far

I had begun to think Broken was the high point of Hart's career--not that I haven't enjoyed her other titles, because I really, really have--but Broken was so the right mix of Hart's strengths. Until now. Collide is the book I've been hoping she'd write since I first discovered her. It's unabashedly romantic. Its main character is actually fully supported by her friends and family, not bogged down and fighting them, which is a very welcome change. It's fresh yet complex, just the way I like a good Megan Hart book to be. And it's also, quite possibly, the most light-hearted of her books that I've read so far, though that's not to say that it's facile, or even light-hearted compared to other authors in this genre. I really loved it.

A bit disappointed

Took too long to get going then ended abruptly. The narrator was too old for the character. I love science fiction and romance but this want very well put together. It was just fair at best.

Loved it, once I got used to the narration!

What did you love best about Collide?

I have listened to most of Megan Hart's books and have enjoyed most of them, but this may be my favorite. It was a slow beginning, and it took me a while to get used to the deep-voiced narration that seemed better suited for a character who has smoked for 30 years rather than a character who has barely LIVED for more than 30 years. But eventually I got very caught up in the details of Emmaline & Johnny's story. It wasn't as erotic as other Megan Hart books, but I found that I didn't care because there was a lot more than that to this book. The more I listened to, the more questions I had and the more I wanted to know! When there was only 20 minutes left, there was still so much going on that I couldn't imagine how in the world it was all going to wrap up with so little time left.

What aspect of Lily Bask’s performance would you have changed?

I've listened to Lily Bask before, and have enjoyed her. I think she best portrays an older and more mature character though. When her voice is light, she portrayed a 31-year-old Emmaline just fine! When her voice is low, she was well-suited for portraying Emmaline's mother. After I got used to the narration, I realized that she was also well-suited for Johnny, with his gruff attitude and New York accent! But my biggest problem was that there was plenty of time that her voice dipped down low when she was portraying Emmaline, which was most of the book since it was written from Emmaline's perspective. And that just wasn't a good fit.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

While listening, I was eager to hear more because I still wondered so much about what was happening and how! But my
