Publisher's Summary

Callie Daniels' mother has one dying wish. She wants neighboring rancher, Garrett O'Neill, to marry her 17-year-old daughter. It's not supposed to be a conventional marriage. Garrett O'Neill would keep Callie's ranch safe, and Callie would go away to college.

Four years later, Callie comes home with stars in her eyes and happily ever after in her heart. She plans to make their marriage real until she finds the new housekeeper, Sylvie, in Garrett's arms.

Heartbroken, Callie takes off to her own house, which they closed up four years ago. She stays there with Old Henry, a longtime friend and ranch hand, until her new horse injures her. Garrett forces Callie to move back in to his house.

Callie finally gets her heart's desire. Alone in a line shack, they make sweet love for the first time. Unfortunately, the love light is gone from Garret's eyes the next morning.

Sweet Story!

Would you consider the audio edition of Callie's Heart to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version, but since I prefer audiobooks to print, I would say the print is better.

What other book might you compare Callie's Heart to and why?

I can't think of a title that is comparable to this story, but lack of communication could have solved many issues in this book and others.

What does Meghan Kelly bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I really enjoy Meghan Kelly's performance. She is able to put so much emotion into her characters that one would not get reading it.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I loved it when they had their heart to heart.

Any additional comments?

I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I would listen to more books by this author and narrator.

Callie's Heart

Overall the story is sweet and fun with a bit of action. The characters are like real people they defiantly have flaws. Callie seems to be a huge crier she does it through most of the book. Garrett screws up a lot! But after he man handles Callie, he would need to do a bit more for me to forgive him. Callie is not the strong heroine, most of the time her character is more weak. She lets everyone push her around and rarely stands up for herself and when she does its only in the moment she never follows through. This rather drove me nuts. Garrett is typical I don't want her but don't want someone else to have her guy. And he is the king of mixed signals. You will fall in love with some of the animals on the Ranch! They are quite interesting and unique. And some of the ranch hands are will pull on your heart strings. Wonderful Narration.

The cowboy and his girl

Sweet story with lots of tense moments as they tried to figure out who is out to destroy them to get the oil deep in the land. A true suspense/mystery novel if you like that.

sweet southern romance

This is a sweet book. Callie will stop at nothing to capture the heart of her husband. He a strong handsome cowboy, who only thinks of her as a kid still.
There are a lot of twists in this story leading down the road to their romance.
Megan Kelly did a fine job reading this book. She has a great voice can do many different voices well.

Sensational

Every girl needs and/or wants a sexy cowboy to ride in and save the day! This book offers not one but two heroes who ride in and save the heroine...too bad her heart only beats for one. She gave her heart to him much too young and now must prove to him that her heart along with her body is grown-up and ready to be his equal. Can't wait to read the next book in the series and find out if cowboy #2 finds true love.

Good listen

I do believe I have a few extra gray hairs now that I can name after Garrett and Callie and the emotions their relationship put me through. The ups and downs of their love made me crazy. I really enjoyed this book overall though. This was a story that kept me guessing and I do enjoy a good mystery. A few handsome cowboys are an added bonus. The narration was very smooth and the dialogue was excellent. Very good listen.

A rodeo ride

Callie’s heart was full of twists that I never saw coming! Kathleen Ball writes a thrilling novel full of murder, mystery, and love. Callie’s unconditional love of Garret is endearing, although I have to admit I was rooting for Stamos just a little bit. Meghan Kelly grabbed my attention with the life she gives each character. I will be following the Lasso Springs series from now on.

Contemporary Western

A ranch, an arranged marriage, unusual accidents, animals dying, all these things adding up to a fun, yet suspenseful listen. When Callie was 17, her mother made an arrangement with Garrett O'Neil to marry Callie and take care of the land. Garrett willingly did this, and though he loved Callie and she loved him(feelings never shared) he let her go off to college to live her dreams. Upon her return after graduation, things changed dramatically. Callie came home with the dream of being a ranchers wife and help run the business. These two have a lot of obstacles they created themselves over the years to get through. Add in someone who wants their land, some cattle being killed, several mishaps that happen on the ranch and you get this romantic suspense sure to keep you interested as you listen. I really enjoyed the banter between Garrett and Callie, though at times I did feel Callie's immaturity shining through. I like strong female leads, and she definitely has a lot of spunk and vigor. Garrett is your typical hunky cowboy, he is very successful for his age and he has that protectiveness you can't help but love. There are some very interesting supporting characters I would love to keep seeing, like Stamos, I think he has a story worth telling and hope Kathleen Ball includes him in her continuation of the series.

Meghan Kelly just keeps getting better and better each and every time I listen to her. She has a soothing voice, with a quiet strength for Callie and a masculinity for Garrett that will make you melt. She definitely brings this story to life.

Sweet stroy

The story was well written, but it did have a couple spots where it dragged a little. The story had both a suspense and a HEA, and who doesn't like to read a HEA. The narrator did a great job with all of the characters that she had to work with. Overall, the main two characters captured my attention and this story could be real world. I would recommend the book if you are looking for hot cowboys and a female that can hold her own handling them.
