Publisher's Summary

Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux knows she's the best - but she doesn't know if she's good enough for this job. Hired by the dangerously beautiful Archangel Raphael, a being so lethal that no mortal wants his attention, only one thing is clear - failure is not an option... even if the task she's been set is impossible. Because this time, it's not a wayward vamp she has to track. It's an archangel gone bad.

The job will put Elena in the midst of a killing spree like no other, and pull her to the razor's edge of passion. Even if the hunt doesn't destroy her, succumbing to Raphael's seductive touch just may. Because when archangels play, mortals break.

Loved It

Any additional comments?

Great narration. I like to list this first as it can make or break a story.

Loved this story. Easy listerning and very entertaining. Will be impatiently waiting for any new books in audio from this author.

Love discovering new series!!!!

I love series. Getting to know your favourite characters more and more every book. Having an opportunity to find out the story of the secondary characters that always capture us but are not the focus of the story. For all these reasons and so many more ... I love series. I have just discovered Nalini Singh and her Archangel Series and wow what a find. Add to the wonderful depth of the story and the fantastic characters she creats, the fantastic naration by Justine Eyre and its a flawless combination. I listened to all three back to back and cannot wait for the next installment.
Highly recommend this series, writer and narrator!!

Great book, bad narrator

What did you love best about Angels' Blood?

The story is really well written. The action scenes, the sex scenes, the dialogues. Everything keeps you on the edge of your seat.

What did you like best about this story?

The paranormal world created by Nalini Singh is very interesting, and the love between Elena and Raphael, how they both change and are willing to risk everything for each other, it's really moving. Elena is a great heroin. Easy to love, tough, fun, real, in a way the reader can really relate to. And Raphael is extremely sexy, dangerous, a real badass anti-hero.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Justine Eyre?

Susan Eriksen

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

No idea :P

Any additional comments?

Hated the narration. She has a great voice, but just doesn't bring any emotion to her sentences. Sounds like she's reading a manual or something equally boring. I've been listening to a lot of audiobooks narrated by Susan Eriksen, and it's completely different. There's acting, there's emotion. Justine Eyre just repeats the words like a robot.

Book is great but Justine Eyre made it even better!

I'm starting the next one. Cannot wait! It is strange, because obviously I know the plot:)

Angels 1, Vampires nasty, Humans . . . expendable

Would you try another book from Nalini Singh and/or Justine Eyre?

Justine Eyre is a delight to listen to. Thanks to her reading I stuck it out for far longer than I would otherwise have done. It's a pity I couldn't find anything else in the catalogue that she has read that isn't a romance. Wouldn't bother with Nalini Singh. The story line was promising but by about quarter of the way through I was finding the the book more and more distasteful. Pleasure was only linked to fear and pain, killing was excessive and random and the romance was thinly disguised rape or the promise thereof. It is probably trying to be an up to date bodice ripper and obviously it appealed to other listeners but I would have liked human beings to have some value and love to be on an equal power base. Just saying.

Has Angels' Blood turned you off from other books in this genre?

No. I love the vampire/ vampire hunter genre. Still listening and enjoying.

Not much to engage

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Someone who is interested in erotic fiction laced with a very slight story line.

Has Angels' Blood turned you off from other books in this genre?

NO, I like most of the fantasy books I have listened to.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Angels' Blood?

The sex scenes

Must read/ listen

Where does Angels' Blood rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book ranks quite high among all the books i have listened too. I read the book first and enjoyed it so much that i thought listening would be a good idea and it didm' disappoint.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

I loved the interplay between all the characters and it is difficult to choose just one scene although all of the one on the roof stick in my mind.

Any additional comments?

I read many different genres of books and different authors including Ilona Andrws, Trudi Canavan, Ben Aaronovitch, A G Riddle.... and this has stuck out as a good read and slightly different.

Really enjoyed this book

Not sure what I expected this story to be but it pleasantly surprised me. Really enjoyed this book, loved the new take on angels and vampires, looking forward to the rest of the series.

Narrator is also good, don't know why but her voice for Raphael seems perfect for how I'd expect an aloof arrogant angel to sound!

Lacked a storyline

Great idea. Interesting characters. But more Archangel porn than story substance. That's it for me.

if calsberg made angels

I loved this book why? well it had adventure, sexiness and romance. the heroine was smart , funny and above all kick ass, the hero was also a villien at times but came across as strong, attractive and protective. Singh weaves a story of intrigue and suspense couple that with steamy sexy vampires and a hint of steamy sex between some of the characters and you have a book with bite.
The narrator had a clear sweeping voice who seamed to meld the character's easily you always knew which character was speaking and when. you didn't confuse Ransom with Rafael or venom with Dametrie or Elinor with Sara each character has their own lilt and timber.
well worth the money I paid and I want more.

The lamest heroine ever

I couldn’t finish it. One gets enough of hearing how wonderfully beautiful the archangel Raphael is... that while playing stupid games with him. For a strong feminist hunter, Elena is a great prude worried about being emotionally hurt by having sex with a guy she completely desires... that’s pretty lame. She spends more time playing around with her hunk than actually stopping a gruesome murderer... how can one think about sex when someone is removing people’s hearts?

Spoilt alert: when they finally sleep together, beside being the most boring sex scene in a book ever written, he has to promise he will not sleep with other women and she does the same. Blah!!!!! So stupid! If the heroine was a young innocent girl, that would fit, but she is suppose to be strong, independent, challenges her parents, but is sexually prude and emotionally weak. The sort of heroine I totally don’t like. If she’s strong, sexy and unforgettable, he shouldn’t have to promise anything... he just voluntarily wouldn’t do it. I just see a weak and insecure character hiding behind arrogance and aggressiveness.

The background story is just there so that the book isn’t just about little Elena’s life and love. So much girl-power cliche, childish, badly written, lots of useless scenes...

this story had a huge potential! :-(((

Please, Renee Rose take this archangel character and create a proper paranormal romance out of it.

Wonderful fantasy world

Another of Nalini Singh's wonderful books brought to audio life brilliantly by Justine Eyre. The pacing of the narration is brisk and compelling. My only very tiny gripe is Justine's English accent. Seriously, we don't speak like that!

Great story, perfect narration

Would you listen to Angels' Blood again? Why?

The Guild Hunter series is a favourite of mine, I re-read or re-listen to them all each time a new one is released.

What does Justine Eyre bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Justine's narration is excellent. Her skill with accents really brings the Cadre to life, giving each a distinct sound and personality. In addition she does an excellent job of pronouncing the more exotic names, some of which I had been mentally mis-pronouncing when I read the books.

Wow!

Would you consider the audio edition of Angels' Blood to be better than the print version?

Yes, I definitely consider the audio book to be better than the written book. The narrator makes the characters come to life.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Angels' Blood?

The 1st time they meet on top of the angel's tower.

Have you listened to any of Justine Eyre’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I have never listen to any of this narrators books before but I certainly will in the future.

Any additional comments?

I cannot wait for the other books in this series to be made available on Audible. I just hope it will be soon.

Voices a little off

While I enjoyed the story and the accent/voices were not jarring I did find the narrators Joyce of accents a little strange.
Having said that I have read this book before so I can into it with some preconceived ideas.

Bada** Hunter

I didn't mind this book. Elena is a vampire hunter who gets messed up hunting a angel who has gone of the rails. Elena has to deal with her attraction to arc angel Raphael while fending of the numerous vampires who want to sink their fangs into her.
I like the twist on how vampires came to be.
Justine Eyre did a great job as narrator.

love this world of Angel and Vampire power struggles. I find the women a bit too quick to accept violent behaviour in the men. Enjoyable and sensual erotic scenes. the bones of this story resemble other young adult, vampire, love stories.

***Angel's blood***

Wow i don't think any angel stories will ever compare to Nalini Singh Archangel's series.
It's extremely addictive, exhilarating, edge of your seat suspense and masterly written. Justine Eyre's narrative is at its best. She imbued her voice with magic that get me enthralled from beginning to end.

Innovative, well fleshed out, romantic

A story between a 'big bad huntress' with baggage, and 'mean and nasty angel' with a soft heart. Throw in a few vampyres for good measure and you have a wonderful, innovative eclectic story.

Beautifully narrated by Justine Eyre who seemed to get the voices just right, read clearly and at a good tempo without projecting herself, which would have detracted from the story.

Thank you Nalini Singh for a great story, with a nice peppering of genuine humour, some hot scenes, and still a lovely romance.
