jdk

I think this one is the best one yet. Of course, everyone has a favorite. Liked the action at the end and how it came together. All of these books are great, but, this one just stood out.

Great Book

Would you consider the audio edition of A Secret Love to be better than the print version?

No, they were both great

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Secret Love?

Loved when Gabriel Cynster finds out the new woman he is obsessed with is actually a child hood friend who he can't seem to stop arguing with.... I love it, when he realizes it.
Its gets even better when Altheana knows, he knows... and tries to avoid him without making a scene in in a ballroom full of people. She is so classy.

Which character – as performed by Simon Prebble – was your favorite?

Rupurt(Gabriel) Cynster, but my all time favourite is Sebastian (Devil) Cynster. He is a CLASSIC character.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

At times I actually wanted to smack some people upside their heads.... sometimes it was Gabriel for not knowing when to shut up! Other times it was Altheana for enabling her whole family to lay back while she risks herself to save them.

I really loved the exchanges between Gabriel and his valet Chance ( named because he saved Gabriel from being killed in the 'slums ' of London, and so Gabriel gave him a chance to better himself.... it's really funny.

Any additional comments?

This is my 2nd favourite Cynster story.

First will always be Devil's Bride.

My new favorite author

I love this series of books and have now added SL to my growing list of favorite authors. Simon does an excellent job of narration.

Read 5 of them

I already read the first 5 books and downloading #6 as I write. I love every single one of them. The story lines make me laugh, cry and feel their love.

Started so well

Best SL book I’ve read so far. In general i find that SL focuses too much on some unexplainable attraction between her leads without enough emotional attachment but on this book it was more believable since the leads grew up together so the emotional attachment was already present. Steamy sex scenes. Simon Prebble does an amazing job with the narration as usual.

My Favorite Cynster Novel Yet!

Alathea Morwellan's story has been the most compelling of all the Cynster brides to be. Personal sacrifice and responsibility are written in a believable way. Gabriel's declaration was perfect: from gilded glass to simple epistle. The financial imbroglio was also carefully crafted to be an engaging plot line. The friendship between bride and groom feels solid, not a compromise.

Still love

I’m basically binge-listening to the whole series and am still in love after reading 10 (started out of order and then decided to investigate the Bar Cynster.)

I love the Cynsters . . . but

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I know people love him, but I think he is terrible. The men all sound the same, I can never tell who is talking and the hero always sounds like 60 year old 2 pack a day smoker.
His woman's voices sound like men - except for the 'younger' (16-17)ones that sound like they are 5

Any additional comments?

There is a mistake that is driving me crazy. I didn't notice it when I read the book, or don't remember it, but the h is trying to help her step-siblings - But - she says she turned her back on the ton to help her step-family and the youngest child is younger than the 10 years ago that happened. She is also determined to make sure that the oldest boy will have the Earldom to inherit - which he couldn't do if he was not her father's son.
So either there are timeline and English inheritance error's OR they are her HALF siblings. It seems like they are supposed to be her step-siblings so it is more self-less for her to do so much for them - but it takes me out of the book everytime I hear it.
From someone that is such a well known and standard in the genre it is a major mistake.

A Favorite

Fun story with a strong heroin who's care for her family is foremost. Nice amount of heat and passion. Again Simon Prebble excels.

Seriously! If you like historical romance that's not overdone; great characters, story & narration, this is it. This is the standard the others aspire to.

Loved this!!

I liked everything about this book. I have read all of previous books in this series and was a little worried that it just couldn't be as good or better than the others...I was wrong. I laughed throughout and almost teared up in a couple of spots. Just loved it.

The narrator is excellent, one of my favourites alongside Roslyn Landor.

I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone who is into this style of publication and to anyone wanting to try this kind of story for the first time.
