A shattered relationship....

Luke, the Baxter family’s golden boy and only son, has walked away from everything that mattered most to him: his faith, his family, and Reagan, his only love. Devastated by the events of September 11, 2001, Luke decides that life is random, faith a fraud, and God a fantasy.

A secret....

A baby is about to be born, but with Reagan a thousand miles away in New York City, Luke has no idea he’s the father. Now, though, someone in his family learns the truth. But she has a secret of her own, one that will change the Baxters’ lives forever.

A revelation....

What will it take for Luke to return to the family who loves and aches for him? And what extremes will a certain young firefighter take to help bring the Baxters together again, and in the process, find his place in the family?

A story of tenacious love and longing for a lost son.

I would recommend this book to all who are facing challenges to see that God is Always there for us, never leaves us, and is waiting for us to return to him.

Wow!

Very impressive writing. Made me laugh and cry. Also, helped bring God into the light for me to somewhat understand when bad things happen. Very thankful for this series so far.

Captivating!

I'm always encouraged when I read stories by Karen Kingsbury. Taking the familiar story of the prodigal son from the Bible, I love how Karen Kingsbury wove that story into this book with Luke Baxter; experiencing a picture of the consequence when we walk away from God.

Read Series In Order!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

More focus on Luke and Reagan, less about his family. Luke and Reagan were supposedly the main characters, I figure they were only about 30% of the book. It seemed more about characters (his siblings) from the previous books, then about them.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I enjoy stories that have a lot of characters, and where the characters are intertwined. You have an entire family represented in the book. But it was strange for a supposedly Christian family to keep so many secrets from each other. I would have enjoyed it more for family members to be more involved in the struggles of each other.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I didn't care for Sandra Burr's male voices. I heard other books by her that I enjoyed her narration, just not this one.

Do you think Return needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Yes. It's already part of a series, but too many questions are left unanswered at the end of the book.

Any additional comments?

I understand that this book is part of a series. I wish I had known that they are not independent of each other. You need to read the series in order. When I started this book, I was lost. I kept thinking that I'd figure out who the characters were and that everything would "fall" into place. It never did. It was an okay book. I might have liked it better if I had read the series from the beginning.
