Publisher's Summary

Brad Cutler, 28, is a rising star at his New York ad agency, about to marry the girl of his dreams. Anyone would agree he has it all - a great career, a beautiful and loving fiancée, and a fairy tale life ahead of him - when memories of a high school girlfriend begin to torment him. Lost innocence and one very difficult choice flood his conscience, and he is no longer sure what the future will bring except for this: he must find his old love and make amends. Haunted by the past and confused about the future, he turns to God seeking forgiveness and redemption.

Powerful

This book was one of my favorites Kingsbury books. I was put into the situation of each character and could appreciate how forgiveness and redemption was given and received when the issues at hand were faced. I wish all who have found themselves in this situations could read and understand the redemption that is available.
Thanks Karen for being honest about the effects of abortion on the life of those who choose it.

Very Inspirational

I thought this book was very inspirational, as is all of Karen's books I've read so far. This book raises the awareness of the emotional and spiritual stress caused by the choices we make and cannot undo. A very good read in my opinion.

Wow. What talent to be able to write like this.

Tears and laughter. You almost feel like you ate part of it and leaves you wanting for more.

too much

This book had a lot of promise but it was just TOO MUCH, too much crying, too much sobbing, too much, too much. I usually enjoy Kingsbury and the premise for the story is good but her writing was just dragging on the points and everyone was SOOOOOO sad and depressed about everything and it really wasn't one of her better books.

Wonderful story, helps understand abortion pain

I wish this book was a required reading of all young women and teen girls. It helps me understand the pain of abortion more clearly. God bless Karen. Thank you. Redemption and peace. Thank you.

Blessed My Life in so many ways!

63 years ago, my my pregnant and very, very young unwed mother placed me for adoption. She could have chose abortion, but she made the sacrifice of letting me go to a family that was where God wanted me to be. I am so thankful that she chose life for me, especially in a time when doing so was not easy.

What an amazing God we serve!

What a lovely-woven story of another spiritual truth. It is such a burden to carry as a woman and I don't think people on the whole understand that abortion is the shedding of innocent blood. But praise Jesus, that His Blood was also innocent, and He paid IN FULL for our sin, whatever it is. The narrator was excellent too.

Excellent but wordy

Would you listen to Shades of Blue again? Why?

Maybe. The message was excellent, wonderful reminder of the loving, forgiving nature of God. Some parts could have been left out though, they didn't lend anything to the story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Brad's dad was my favorite character because he was portrayed as the steady man of God that remained the same through the years.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene was on the beach when Emma and Brad mourned for the loss of their child and were able to forgive themselves and each other.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

At various points it did make me cry. I do not recall laughing.

Any additional comments?

I was kinda bugged that they kept calling the baby a girl. How did they know it was a girl? She never had a sonogram or amino so how do they know it was a girl. I must have missed something.

Another great book by one of my favourit authors.

What made the experience of listening to Shades of Blue the most enjoyable?

The narator roxanne hernandez narated the book very well and gave each character there own voice and personality. also i always have a high antisipation level when i listen to one of karen kingsburies books as i know there lightly to be brillient.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Shades of Blue?

When Brad and Emma managed to get themselves sorted out and managed to sort out there past.

What about Roxanne Hernandez’s performance did you like?

Just the way she reads the book and gives characters there own voices.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

owerful dramah.

Any additional comments?
