Publisher's Summary

The “experts” are lying to you.

A real, raw, and relevant look at the reality of marketing your bar or restaurant in today’s noisy online world. Learn why social media marketing has lost its effectiveness over the years and how content marketing can give you a simple, much-needed edge.

Master the "fishbowl vs. the ocean concept" and start increasing guest counts where the new customers are: Google, Tripadvisor, and Yelp - not social media. Do not listen to the “one size fits all” social media people who put their own best interests ahead of your restaurant’s success. Learn from my decade of corporate restaurant and bar marketing experience and my knowledge gained by simply asking the public how they decide where to eat and drink instead of guessing.

The marketing status quo of today is shockingly flawed, which is costing your business money. Living a lifetime in the trenches from dishwasher to corporate marketing director and everything in between, I’ve learned a few things about human nature and why we have to adapt and pivot instead of refusing to evolve.

This is how to improve guest counts and run a successful bar or restaurant.

no BS great info for restaurateurs

a simple no BS approach 2 SEO, and Google. it's like having a conversation with a friend. it's an easy listen and worth it. I found myself pausing throughout the book to actually go online and fix my Google business page.

Great listen for modern advice for restaurant and cafes

Own a small little waffle shop and I’m already going to listen to this again a second time with Pen in hand.

Erik speaks from experience and I’m thankful that he has a heart to teach and give away what he has learned and what works for him and his clients.

Great advice

The fresh approach about this book is that Erik is not trying to sell his strategy but rather shows you what works with cost and effectiveness in mind.

To the point, relevant, clear and invaluable

I’m so over all the books full of fluff that waste my time to deliver one mediocre insight. This is not one of them. I came out of this with 4 pages of notes and the whole experience took me less than 2 hours total. I only write down things that are actionable and that I didn’t already know, so 4 pages in 2 hours is just phenomenal... a great investment of time and money.. Highly recommended.

Decent listen

overall a good listen, makes some good points about social media/Google ad words. don't 100% agree with not doing paid ads on facebook as it is still such a steal vs. Google ad words. but again. get outta the fishbowl and into the ocean like he stated.
