Publisher's Summary

The “experts” are lying to you.

A real, raw, and relevant look at the reality of marketing your bar or restaurant in today’s noisy online world. Learn why social media marketing has lost its effectiveness over the years and how content marketing can give you a simple, much-needed edge.

Master the "fishbowl vs. the ocean concept" and start increasing guest counts where the new customers are: Google, Tripadvisor, and Yelp - not social media. Do not listen to the “one size fits all” social media people who put their own best interests ahead of your restaurant’s success. Learn from my decade of corporate restaurant and bar marketing experience and my knowledge gained by simply asking the public how they decide where to eat and drink instead of guessing.

The marketing status quo of today is shockingly flawed, which is costing your business money. Living a lifetime in the trenches from dishwasher to corporate marketing director and everything in between, I’ve learned a few things about human nature and why we have to adapt and pivot instead of refusing to evolve.

This is how to improve guest counts and run a successful bar or restaurant.

Great Information.

What I liked most about this book was the common-sense delivery of the author. Both, in his writing and his speaking, he presents his information in simple, easy to understand language, principle-centered ideas, and he backs up his arguments with logical reasoning and, in most cases, some data. I look forward to listening to his more up to date books. What would have made it five stars? I think that there is something to be said about how deferred maintenance impacts bars and restaurants. He talks in-depth about cracked cell phones, but I think there is something to be said about cracked bench seats, and duct taped barstools. How and when do the best bar owners stay on top of this? And how does this measurably impact the marketing efforts of the bar? For example, I spent $1,500 on my recent PPC push, just to have people not want to come into my dark and neglected bar (or something like that). It just seems unclear if great marketing, food and service make up for a little neglect (like a great dive bar). Can it? I don’t know….

Great easy read!

This book was great. It seemed like a 2 hour conversation packed with helpful info more then a book on marketing. I would suggest this to anyone working in this industry from owners to employees both could benefit from this short but knowledgeable read.

great book, lots of valuable, Different info

this is a great book to think outside the normal box for tactics in marketing, and employee utilization.

I really enjoyed this book, it was pretty short, but the information isn't inflated, which many books do.

try it out if you own or want to one day own/run a bar, or resteraunt!

Great advice with a twist of humor...

I wish there was a little more influx in the narration. I can tell he was reading to me instead of TALKING to me. But that's ok!! I ENJOYED THE BOOK!!!

Great book for food/beverage business owners

Love the knowledge that I got from this book. I will be implementing everything that was recommended. Even though I don’t own a bar, I find the information useful to use for my bakery.

No BS just straight talking and interesting. If you are looking for something different and not mainstream then this book is for you. Take some of it with a pinch of salt, but definitely some very useful tips.

Good listen!

Good book, straight talking and to the point.
He doesn't over complicate it with marketing jargon.

Seriously good info with seriously poor narration

A a far as content, it’s quite good. I’d even go as far as to recommend a listen, but the as narrator stumbles his way through the chapters, trips over words and even receives emails (yes, if you listen closely you can hear the outlook email chime regularly), you begin to wish the narrator took his job seriously.

This is a must for anyone who wants to improve their businesses.

I really like this book, has been listening to this book for over 5 times already (i am not native English speaker). Thank to the book i know which path i should take for the restaurant i work for. Which ones need to be focused on. And how we lost a lot of money for bullshit marketing strategy and website which bring nothing to the restaurant. Thank you Eric, will contact you soon for more advices from you.
