We cannot forget the manners that we were taught as children. When someone does something for us or gives us something, we must remember to say thank you. This same thing applies when we come to God with our request. We must remember to thank him for the many blessings he has bestowed upon us. Rev. Dr. Kenneth Samuel gives us the push in a sermon titled "Somebody Say Thank You".
