If we're not careful, we tend to look at disciple making as something we may choose to do or not do. Nothing like this can be far removed from the truth about what God actually wants.
The average believer believes that the reason why they are saved is so they can go to heaven. Some do better by knowing that the reason they are saved is so they can have an everlasting life which means having a relationship with Jesus Christ. (See John 17, the high priestly prayer of our Lord Jesus Christ)
Question then arises; if all I am to do is to get saved and have a wonderful relationship with Jesus Christ, which includes spending eternity with him in heaven, why don't I just die immediately I get saved?
The answer is that God expects you to become a disciple and then become a disciple making disciple. In other words, God's agenda is that you become a disciple maker!
I have endeavoured to put together the Scriptures that will help us pray through and decide to do the will of God. I have no doubt that anyone that hears these Scriptures will have a changed life and become a better disciple maker in the process.
