Publisher's summary

One summer changes their lives forever....

Alex Ellison is well-educated, rich, and good-looking. Too bad the ingredients of success haven’t mixed too well for him, and instead of having the world at his feet, Alex has, once again, landed himself in a hot mess of trouble.

The community service his father arranges for him in a wildlife center on the other side of the country comes as a bit of a nasty surprise, though. Being shipped off to middle-of-nowhere, Oregon, is not Alex’s idea of the perfect summer vacation. What Alex never expects is to meet Noah Price. He never expects to be noticed and understood. He never expects to feel valued and special. He never expects to fall in love.

Everything is not what it seems, though, and love that feels invincible turns out to be anything but. But love finds a way, and when Alex and Noah unexpectedly cross paths years later, they will have to risk it all for the love they both deserve and so desperately need.

a bit of a mystery wrapping up an untangling of two very different people who were well matched.

The development of this unlikely couple was be gone in the first chapter when Alex was clearly not a very likable character. However, the attraction which was the opposite of his sexual youth seemed to be overpowering . the dance that they undertook before finally becoming honest with each other and how they gradually developed themselves into very deep characters was very engaging throughout the book. The actors were great in keeping the parts alive and, like most of these books once they got to the happily ever after, it wrapped up very quickly.

Welcome surprise

Great narration by Alexander Cendese and Iggy Toma. They always bring their characters to life in such an entertaining way. I enjoyed Briar Prescott’s ability to make Alex’s and Noah’s interactions so totally real and relatable, gradually revealing their characters and developing the relationship between them without pages of angsty musings. These are two guys I’d like to meet.

Brilliant

Such a lovely and unique story. I don’t honk I’ve read such a unique story and plot twist. Loved it. The second chance romance with a twist was fabulous and the narration was superb.

Uplifting Love Story

I absolutely loved the way this story focuses on the good more than the sad. It depicts the relationship between the men with no homophobia or closeted drama which is so refreshing. Their story even segues into addressing some LGBTQ+ restrictions that are very outdated (no spoilers). I even googled it, and it is actually something that has changed in real world time. It keeps to the relevance of their love story and adds depth to the characters which again, is so refreshing. Loved it!!!

Really enjoyed this

This is my 2nd Briar Prescott title and I am once again blown away by her story telling and the way she portrays the romance between two people who happen to be men as they fall in love. I enjoyed the duel performances of Iggy Toma and Alexander Cendese but I don't understand why we only heard from Alexander (Toma) the first part but we didn't hear from Noah (Cendese) until the 2nd part - but we still heard from Alexander. I think it should have been duel either all the way through or the 2nd part only Noah.

4 stars - Worthy of a repeat listen

A cute, feel good book.

In this book you get some teenagers who have a sordid love affair. The reason for the breakup is unknown until years later when they reconnect. Alex and Noah go through their ups and downs, but they make it work. This book was just so cute!! I loved it!!

MUST READ

One of the most unique books I’ve read. The author took some very real life issues, added in some current political issues, and very tastefully weaved a spectacular journey for the reader to take. Sometimes with romances you have to suspend belief, not with this story, it is raw and real. Then take the fact that she used two of my favorite narrators and it makes the story even better!
