Crossroads

Crossroads is about Emerson and Jasper and is told from both of their points of view. Emerson's mom tells him she won't pay for his college unless he goes and works on his aunt (who he has never met) farm. He doesn't take this news well.

Once he gets there he butts head with the main worker Jasper. Jasper things Emerson is spoiled, when Jasper has worked for everything that he has.

The more time they spend together, they realize both of them have their own struggles, and feelings between the two start to develop. Neither has been with a guy before, so it's new for both of them. What happens when the summer is over? Will they get their happy ending together? Or will the separate and go their own ways?

I really liked getting to know these characters. Seeing how much Jasper cared for his family and younger brother, and how both Emerson and Jasper helped each other grow.

This was such a fresh, addictive, and emotional small-town MM romance that perfectly spins the classic city-boy meets country-boy trope into pure gold. This was the perfect length and I was completely drawn in from start to finish.

When privileged city boy Emerson gets banished to his aunt’s farm to learn a lesson in hard work, he collides head-on with Jasper, who’s a grumpy, dedicated farmhand. What starts as a hilarious, petty battle of wills between them quickly developed into a dual bi-awakening that is equal parts tension, angst and searing hot heat. 🔥🔥

Both narrators are completely new to me! Avery Wilde and Colt Carter breathed life into Emerson and Jasper. Avery captures Emerson’s initial cocky, defensive, and spoiled city shield, slowly letting it crack to reveal the deeply lovable, vulnerable man underneath. And Colt nailed Jasper's gruff, guarded exterior with a charm that reeled you in. Highly recommend this on audio!!! 💖✨

Written in first-person POV, alternating.
Present tense.

Oh this drew me in instantly, and only got better as it went on. It’s a workplace, forced proximity, small town, ‘ranch life’ read, with a riches-to-rags twist, and juuuust enough ‘slice of life’ shown, that I got all invested in every character’s private life. Really well done, packs ALL the fun vibes.

Throw in some ‘we shouldn’t’ friends-with-benefits-to-more vibes and - chef’s kiss.

Totally recommend if you’re looking for a quick, light, no-stakes read—Nicole Dykes does it again.

The only thing better than bi-awakening, is a double bi-awakening! GAH! I love these two so dang much! Emerson and Jasper tried to hate each other and just, couldn't. They were drawn together. Huge thanks to one bed to help break those boundaries and push them where they are meant to be.

Avery Wilde and Colt Carter narrate this book and they did a great job. I really enjoyed this listen.

I think this is an adorable story. It’s an easy enjoyable read. Not overly dramatic nor too slow.
