Also in 2010 it won the Writers' Guild of Great Britain Award for 'Best Radio Comedy/Light Entertainment'. The series was voted 'Best Radio Entertainment Show' in the Comedy.co.uk Awards held by the British Comedy Guide in the 2012 and 2015 awards.
I love this series where Mark Steel manages to encapsulate the soul of Britain with an earthy and erudite humour that’s all his own. There’s a real art in exposing the foibles of a place before and with its inhabitants in a way that endears. Thoroughly recommend the series for anyone wanting cheering up though there are some extremely penetrating insights into the way our towns are being ruined and made more soulless by large corporations and vision less planners
Mark Steel always does a great job in these series, a combination of mickey taking, appreciation for history and healthy amounts of tongue in cheek. Highly recommended if you dont take yourself too seriously :)
I've listened to every episode of Mark Steel's in Town that Audible has to offer, and have loved every minute of every one. Whether you've heard of the place Mark is performing in, or not, they're funny, charming, and I absolutely recommend them. One of my favourite shows on the radio.
I loved the previous series and this one didn't disappoint. Engaging, informative and very funny. I'm looking forward to the next one already.
