Publisher's summary

Louie Cogburn had spent three days holed up in his apartment, staring at his computer screen. His pounding headache was unbearable - like spikes drilling into his brain. And it was getting worse. Finally, when someone knocked at his door, Louie picked up a baseball bat, opened the door, and started swinging...

The first cop on the scene fired his stunner twice and Louie died instantly. Detective Eve Dallas has taken over the investigation, but there's nothing to explain the man's sudden rage or death. The only clue is a bizarre message left on his computer screen: Absolute Purity Achieved.

And when a second man dies under nearly identical circumstances, Dallas starts racking her brain for answers and for courage to face the impossible... that this might be a computer virus able to spread from machine to man....

Oh Lord, Dallas, please just chill

Eve Dallas is the most hateful character lead in modern literature! She is cruel and mean to her husband and associates, strangers, as well as to bad guys. I love this series, but I just cannot stand Eve Dallas. Weird, isn't it? I guess I have a love hate relationship with her but there is only one word to describe her - she is a Bitch, and I hats to use that word. The story in Purity in Death is good and the ending is a surprising twist. Eve and her team are on the hunt for a terrorist group that kills their target with a computer program that blows up their brain, an ugly death. Other bystanders are also killed in the attacks. Roark is helping with the electronic end of the investigation. McNabb has a terrible injury. Peabody is her usual wonderful self. She is my favorite character and is a refreshing change from Eve.

The narrator is excellent, but I sometimes wonder if it is her portrayal of Dallas that makes her so hateful. Maybe if read in a softer or more teasing tone Dallas would not sound so harsh and mean. But she would still come out as self centered, self important and rude. Dallas thinks that what she is doing is more important than what anyone else does. She thinks it is okay to be rude to working people who are just doing their job. She yells at her so called friends in front of others, which is embarrassing and unacceptable.

Bottom line is that Robb must be an excellent writer if I can love the series so much and hate Eve Dallas at the same time.

A Wild Case Begins

Eve and Roake ( let's be serious here because it is the both) are on the trail of a Very evil group and time is of the essence. Mcnab and feeny are in up to eyeballs in this one along with Peabody. Enjoy

love this series

I have to say I have truly enjoyed this series, and this was one of the better episodes.
I do skip over some of the sex as it is a little too much for my taste, but I do love their passion.

Best of the series thus far.

I never saw the end coming. There were more twists and turns in this book Then there were in any of the previous Books in series. I highly recommend it. Bravo JD!

Great Story and Fantastic Narrator

Currently working my way through the series on audiobook. Ive read them in paperback and this series is fantastic but this narrator has taken it to a whole new level! She does the entire cast of characters justice and, as far as I'm concerned, she IS Eve. Bravo!

Best Lt Eve to date.

This is the best of the series to date. Complicated and complex with a satisfying wrap up. Narrator is the best. Highly recommend this audiobook.
