Publisher's Summary

Eileen has never been interested in love. Ever since her father's abandonment, she's vowed to never experience such pain again. But the enchanted forest has different ideas. When the continuously shifting pathways lead her to a mysterious stranger, Eileen finds her promise to fiercely guard her heart increasingly difficult to keep.

One night when she becomes lost in a storm, the enchanted forest's pathways lead her to the castle, home to the kingdom's Dark Prince, where Eileen finds herself entangled in what many consider an opportunity but which Eileen believes to be a curse: competing for the Dark Prince's hand through a series of tests that judge one's royal worth. Eileen is neither royal nor interested in becoming a princess. But the mysterious stranger she met in the woods has his own reasons for helping her succeed, although the cost of his assistance may be too high: that of Eileen's heart, the one thing she's vowed never to give.

Very Sweet!

A very sweet story. It is nice to have a book that isn't filled with violence, sex, drugs, and profanity. A good story with memorable characters.

It made me feel like a princess myself

Sweetest fairy tale love story with a smidgen of magic. I found my chest gushing with emotions frequently. Perfect for falling asleep to and for enjoying with a cup of tea and soft pillows during the day. I couldn't put it down and finished it in just over 2 days.

Great Start to the Series

This is a loose retelling/mash up of several fairy tales. The narration is done by one of my favorite narrators, and I will listen to just about anything she narrates because she is that amazing. Definitely easy to listen to, and I can't wait for more books in this series to end up on audiobook!

Disappointed

I wanted to like this book, but honestly I found it to be painstakingly boring. It takes like five or six chapters for her initial two encounters with the male MC. It was so drawn out. And 98% of the book was the male MC saying “I’m sorry”. It became grating and made me want to stop reading several times. I was mostly listening for background noise, which was good since the book did nothing to make me want to get invested.

I think this could have been a really cool story but it was all very predictable. And even the challenge to become the chosen princess was lackluster. There was never any real tension or action in my opinion.

I skipped several chapters just to get to the end and finish it. I don’t feel I missed anything by doing that. If you like very slow paced storylines with no romantic tensions of any kind (even with the buildup to a kiss) then you will enjoy this. But if you like a bit more tension or heat in your romance this isn’t for you.

It great

I loved it I didn't stop until I finished it
I really liked the main character and I love the hints about aiden though I may have figured out who he was from the first hint that took nothing away from the story

again it was an absolutely beautiful story

A sweet love story

This is a very sweet love story, enjoyable enough though perhaps not as rich in plot as some others I have listened too.
